Can you share a site to order the correct Honda shear bolts? Thanks!,
@HondaSnowblowerEnthusiasts3112 ай бұрын
Honda dealer. or boats.net buy the HSS model shear boats for augers. only like 23 cents each.

The number one thing you do to a Honda snowblower is never let anybody else use it period
@HondaSnowblowerEnthusiasts311Ай бұрын
Very true. I see examples all the time of people breaking other people's Honda's.

I have had and worked on Honda snowblowers for years. Two big issues…..poorly adjusted skid shoes leading to wear on the auger housing and the auger itself. The other is seizing of the auger gearbox axle to the auger halves. People don’t lubricate these properly and then the auger shear bolts are useless.
@HondaSnowblowerEnthusiasts31123 күн бұрын
yes, i address this all the time. have a couple videos on servicing augers on both HS and recently HSS models. thanks for watching.
@ronloomer826328 күн бұрын
The reason people use bolts like i do ,is you cant find the correct dam pins ..On line ordering you get everything,but the right pins. Also dealers are always out.
@HondaSnowblowerEnthusiasts31128 күн бұрын
Then you take the risk of breaking very expensive components. You can get grade 2 bolts at any hardware store. Just ask them for the softest bolts they have.

Here's my advice. Those skid shoes are expensive. Before mounting them, run a couple beads of "Wear" welding rods across the bottom and when this eventually wears down, apply more. You'll never have to buy a pair of skid shoes again.
@HondaSnowblowerEnthusiasts31114 күн бұрын
well the skids for the hss models are about 10 bucks each. they were when i bought about 10 last year. They are double sided for longer life. have you done this welding wear on your machine? sounds like a good idea . I may try it. It only takes 10 minutes to adjust skids . Thanks for watching.
@frankhoward764513 күн бұрын
@@HondaSnowblowerEnthusiasts311 The last time I bought skids was in 1994 when my machine was 10 years old.. At that time, they hadn't invented the double sided ones. I paid $35 for the pair. Prior to installing them on the machine, I applied two beads of "Wear" weld. Since then, I've re-applied the weld 2 or 3 times and I've never had to buy a pair of skids since. In 2001, my mother gave me her HS624. The skids (totally different style as they attach to the back side of the bucket) were totally worn out. I bought a new pair and applied the wear weld prior to installing them and then I sold the machine to a friend. Oh yes, the welding burns off the black paint so they don't look so great but they will last forever!
@HondaSnowblowerEnthusiasts31113 күн бұрын
@@frankhoward7645 agree. some of the good skids are 30-50 or more but i am very interested in your idea. could you share this on our Facebook group? it may help a lot of people. very common issue. check it out here. facebook.com/groups/180228506224122/ pictures? appreciate you watching.....now you have something for me to think about/try.

$600 for a replacement electric starter? WTF? A car starter is a fraction of that! Honda parts are way too much for what you get. Is almost sounds like that blower should have Harley Davidson logo on it!
@HondaSnowblowerEnthusiasts311Ай бұрын
That is why I look for donor machines or machine people are taking to junk yard for parts. I have about 5-6 spares.
