Fuel stabilizers barely work if at all. Snake oil I don’t use it anymore. They play with our ego. Non ethanol gas is best. Turn off fuel while still running, run carb dry for engines that sit for long periods. Best to drain all fuel in the tank if it may sit over a year. Shrouds on carb allows it to suck warm air from engine to keep carb from icing up which they likely will even if it does not get any snow in there. With all that I must say you did an excellent job. You saved them a lot of a Hassle and money.

In addition to stabilizer, I recommend running the carb dry after every use. I always shut the fuel valve off and let it run out of gas.

I just fixed a Bolens, which is an MTD snowblower. He broke the starter drive and he broke the pull cord, so he wonder if I can fix it. Took the belt cover off and looked in there first. nothing broke there. remove the spark plug and pour some transmission oil down the cylinder and let it set over night. Install a new cord on the recoil. Use my channel locks, grabbed hold of the crankshaft and started moving it back-and-forth. It broke free. Took the bowl off the carburetor, cleaned the jet removed all the dirt and drain the gas tank. Put it all back together, put in fresh fuel and a fuel shut off. Started right up got it warm, then changed the oil. Went over the whole blower and free up everything and lube. Runs good now

Great video thank you and for storing I run it dry with stabilized fuel then i use trufuel only for storage purposes it last two years after opening and five years unopened then I use SeaFoam one oz per gallon of ethenol free gas during the season … again that was a great video thanks..

Always start the engine, heat it up, then change the oil. All the contaminants fall out of the oil and sit on the bottom of the crank case, by starting it up, the contaminants mix with oil and can be removed. (Or the contaminants can be mixed in with the new oil, It's your choice).

Seen the gas colour when you cracked the drain nut, as a golden rule for any and ally engines i always start them atleast once every 2 to 3 weeks, and never keep gas in the tanks more than 3 months unless I'm using them constantly, lawnmowers, rototillers get a complete fresh tsnk with right amount of stabilizer right before parking them for winter, but still start them during winter months, and always keep the gas tanks filled to the top, and fresh oil flush amd change before storage helps come spring time, and remember if you leave them out in the snow uncovered that will lead to surface rust from moisture in the air, so try to put a cover over that goes beyond the body of your machine, once again great video rick, thanks for posting

I made the switch to running non ethanol fuel in my outdoor equipment about 5 years ago and I haven’t had any carburetor issues since. I also before I put my lawnmower away for fall I run it run it completely out of fuel and Visa versa putting my snowblower away in spring.

If it was run for any length of time with that mouse nest on too of the head, that's guaranteed to overheat and seize the engine.

Thanks for this video. I've had issues with my Husqvarna blower for the last 10 or 12 years of ownership. I think I may now be able to solve some of the issues I've had! Also fill the tank right to the top when storing!

Agreed. I recommend to either fill up the tank and stabilize it properly or to run stabilizer on the last use and run it out of gas. I run stabilizer regularly in case I forget 😊

Old Man from Eliminator Performance here in Ontario, Canada. We have tried storing fuel with many stabilisers and we (and confirmed by Taryl Fixes All 5 month trial video) the Startron brand actually creates (do not know why) more jellification (an EP terminology of ethanol jell) than regual 87 octane fuel with 10% ethanol and no stabiliser added. At EP we use K100s+ stabiliser without issue and again in Taryl's video there was no ethanol jell after 5 months of storage. Last year we switched over to the BG line of products and no issue with the BGSC2 stabiliser after 5 months of storage. If we work on equipment being stored and it just had an ultrasonic cleaning at EP we will put one litre of Kinetix alkylate fuel into the fuel tank and guarantee the customer a 2 year start up if it sits that long (this especially on generators both 4 and 2 stroke). All in all a good video but i would suggest changing to another stabiliser and either check EP or Taryl out on KZbin. Project Farm also has a great video on stabilisers.

Thanks for the support and the info! I'm a fan of Project Farm. I'll have to check out Taryl. Everyone has a favorite product when it comes to stabilizer. I may have to do so.e testing of my own 😉

Do you recommend installing a fuel line shut off valve? I’ve put them on my small engines and let the carb starve during each shut down. 🇨🇦👍

Everyone has a preference. I usually stabilize the gas, run the machine for some time and yes, run it dry. So, adding a valve is a good idea. It also makes servicing easier...👌

As we already see I bet the machine was fueled with ethanol containing gas and they let it sit and it drew water out of the air and corroded the bottom of the bowl. always drain the carb and tank for seasonal storage. we store by draining the tank then adding about a half a cup of Automatic transmission fluid to fill the carb bowl, "then" remember at the start of the season drain the ATF from the bowl and add fresh non ethanol fuel.. use peppermint oil spray to deter mice , they hate the smell if putting a small engine into off season storage pull the plug add a about a tea spoon full of engine oil crank the engine over slowly to coat the cylinder so you dont get rust ..or turn the engine over a few times at least once a month , try and store the engine on the compression cycle so both valves are closed..
