Between the background music, media (photos/videos) mixed in, and informative & hip narration, I don't think you'll find a more entertaining book review anywhere. Makes me want to read the book over seeing the movie!

Did you ever read A Man In Full. That is another fantastic Book by Tom Wolfe. Chicago also has a very bad School System. In Hoop Dreams when William Gates (not the Computer Mogul) and Arthur Agee attended a Catholic Boys School on Scholarship that they travel Round Trip Three Hours Per Day, they start with The Eighth Grade Class but have only a Fourth Grade Reading Level. The Nun who is a Guidance Counselor said "You Must Be A Great Ballplayer To Get Into A School Like This."

I always thought William Hurt would have been good to play Sherman in the movie.

This is a really excellent review of the book and with high production values to boot. Thank you very much! I'm subscribing now.

Tom Wolfe, Stephen King, Dominick Dunne, John Grisham and Pat Conroy (RIP) are so popular but so diversified who have different Writing Styles. Tom does Books about The Rich & Powerful in the form of a Satire, Dominick Dunne shows how cruel and nasty The Rich can be, Stephen King goes out of his Style that made him an icon and does "Regular" Novels most notably Stand By Me, and The Shawshank Redemption. John Grisham also does this with Playing For Pizza and A Painted House, and Pat Conroy shows that The Men in his books don't have it easy at all. In The Great Santini, The Main Character has a overbearing Father, The Prince Of Tides Tom Wingo makes peace with his abusive past, while in The Lords Of Discipline Will McClean finds out how important it is to "Keep Your Friends Close, Your Enemies Closer" and is backstabbed in a way that he didn't think was possible. Reverend Bacon is very evil, narcistic, and played on The Two Men's sympathies to help Harlem. The Young Men were very stupid, they didn't ask for a Business Prospectus, a License for The Daycare Center or even Resumes of Future Employees or even a Documentation for Payroll etc.

I wanted to like this book, so I read the whole thing but was utterly bored the entire time. After I felt cheated and saw no point to it's rambling, meandering, tedious and unsatisfying story line. Just my opinion. Hope this vid may change my mind, we'll see.

This book and movie comment nearly perfectly what's happening right now with the George Floyd thing in Minneapolis. Seriously prescient.

True saw the movie last night and it's no mistake TCM showed it in the wake of that incident.

He made a mistake. It was Sherman's Father. Charlie Crocker in A Man In Full was just as stupid being 1.2 Billion in debt

this whole story jibes with my infinite cynicism about the human race.

Focus on the character Campbell. Shes supposed to be the one moral character. Shes the 7 yo daughter and appears in maybe 2 pages total.

@@thebookwasbetter3650 Thanks, I'll check it out. I follow macro economics closely and I hope you are in a good position. I recommend that you follow Michael Oliver at MSA, Tavi Costa at Crescat, Michael Pento, and Northstar/Badcharts for great charts. Buy some precious metals and put them in a safe place.
