Caramoan where one tribe just walks in the Hot Pursuit challenge where the goal is to catch the other tribe is the first thing that comes to mind.

@@lillithplays6514 Lol, but Morgan actually lost it at the home stretch, where they went too high up on the dry sand that falls apart under compression. Drake overtook them by going closer to the water, where the sand was wetter and could better handle the weight, which means there was less resistance. Another example of an anti-hack is in Guatemala during the challenge where they need to get into the cart and race down the hill. The one where someone (I think it was Jaime) couldn't cut the rope at the first station. He literally couldn't hack through the rope

Shamar in that challenge where everyone had to stand on top of a narrow perch and he asked all his tribemates to stand on top of him. Kathy vs Rob in the All Stars challenge mentioned in this video where Rob just ran the course, Kathy decided to sit down when in the attack zone. Didn't work.

Great series. Thank you for these. I remember from the season 2 commentary with Jeff Probst and Colby Donaldson, Jeff admitted during the commentary that if you had a strategy for a challenge that wasn't specifically stated in the rules, just go ahead and do it. Don't ask about it before the challenge, because Jeff will 99.99% say "no". Jeff doesn't want to play "judge". He doesn't want to stop the games, he doesn't want to make calls. He wants people to play and have fun. So if you get on Survivor and the challenge doesn't exactly say that you can't do "insert this", just go ahead and do it. Give yourself the edge.

It is amazing that this is the 9.0 video. I can't believe, but I know it will happen a 10.0 video. My favorite is the "defensive" hacks, like where Adam didn't win but prevented another from winning. Probably some more of those out there.

It's a smart strategy, he's talked about how he purposely kept Ken in the game as someone that can win challenges because he mostly wanted to keep those immunities away from the people he was targetting. I guess you've gotta be careful who you pick to fill that role, but Adam showed on his season it's not bad idea.

Have you discussed how the Drum Challenge in the Philippines was completed in a way the dream team didn't intend to? Where instead of a brawling game it turned into a speed game?

@@sillykyle17 The challenge was that there were 3 double sided drums-- one yellow and one red-- and players faced off in pairs to turn them all red or all yellow. Apparently the dream team was focused on fighting each other to keep them one color while the contestants just focused on the drums. I don't know if it's a hack necessarily but an interesting concept similar to the Nicaragua hack

Not sure if you already had this one, but in the final 8 challenge of Gabon, in which you had to organize domino blocks on a diagonal beam connected to tripwires that could screw you up, Kenny started at the end and worked his way backwards. That was clever imo, because that means you can go freely through the ropes for the blocks at the end, you don’t have to worry about tripping, and when you place your last few blocks, you don’t have to go through all the ropes again, since they’re at the start. That gave Kenny such an edge over Matty and Corinne, that he ended up getting 2 domino pushes by the time it took them to get 1.

Gosh that outcast challenge was unfair on so many levels. Did everyone notice that the outcast had one more tribe member in that challenge? You can argue if thats an advantage or disadvantage, but how often do we see challenges with uneven tribe members?

Not that often, but this was the first time they did something like this remember. Keep in mind were not fully sure who recently or long in advance this idea was created too and by the time they finally realized is was about time to start the challenge. Now if this was planned from the beginning keep in mind this cast was and still is one of the best rookie casts in survivor history. It could be a safety net after the most "likeable players" in Thailand went out early as well as the probably best liked castaway and top player in Amazon didn't win and a chance someone like Rob C. goes out early there's the 2nd chance. I know its not really what you asked but i think this still helps. Its a first time redemption process with either poorly done body count per tribe or planned safety net. Its possible we have a completely different winner without it.

@@yellercat500cat7 They only came up with the outcast twist after Burton was voted off. This twist is the very reason why Pearl Islands is bottom 10.

@@kellydaunis That's the first I've heard of this being the reason for Outcasts being created. So I'm just going to take that notion and throw it out the window. Regardless of what real reason the twist came to be, its the sole reason why Pearl Islands is such a good season. Without it we might have a very predictable finish if Sandra, Rupert, and Christa making final 3. Whatever you think of twists like this, Pearl Islands is saved from being a season with a very dull merge finish to a top 1/4th season because of this twist. Most likely the reason why RI and EOE exist despite people's negative reactions to this twist.

hey peridiam :) if you ever run out of US Survivor "hack challenges" videos and start including the international seasons, please make sure to include AU Brain vs. Brawn with Dani's firemaking moment. :) I'm not sure if it should count as a "challenge" but because the stakes for that tribal is high and seems more of a hybrid "reward challenge", I think it could count(?) :) anyway, I tend to roll my eyes whenever Dani claims she's a "good player" or a decent one at that (she has *stage 4 BIGMOVE-itis* is more like it) and her "achievement" with her firemaking agaist Emmett and that outdoorsy guy is just freaking insanity. In the worst way. okay, maybe it's not *entirely* her fault because the crazy Survivor gods from down under gave them *TONS of husks* ... but that's *NOT* how firemaking in Survivor should happen! EVER! she "hacked" that challenge, sure...but it's icky. also she's overrated and I think it's partly because of that moment she "hacked" the firemaking challenge :)

In the newest season of survivor south africa S9 E9 there was a puzzle maze. The main puzzle maker on their team was directing the rest of the blindfolded team to get puzzle pieces in the maze. The red team puzzle maker hacked the game by directing exactly one person at any given time. Everyone else would freeze where he told them to and he would dircet exactly one person by telling them to go against the wall. When the whole team had made it and the other blue team was still directing their blindfolded players, the red team made as much noise as possible to distract the blue team from finishing the maze. After the maze the puzzle makers had to unscramble the word puzzel and this distraction gave the red team enough time to win

I'm watching Australian Survivor All-Stars, and in the episode 13 immunity challenge they have to do the one where they retrieve and place blocks on a platform while balancing it. Harry's stack falls over and then he places his first block diagonally so it's harder to fall. Other people on Vakama and on the other tribe catch on, but his tribe ends up winning because of it. Thought it was an interesting hack, and it's never mentioned so you might not notice if you're not paying attention.

I was rewatching the other day and she was using a mixed grip - could be nothing but I was wondering if that counted as a challenge hack, since she did end up winning.

I feel like this has come up before in your hack lists, but they did another stacking blocks to spell a word on wobbly board you're holding with a rope challenge in Survivor 43. And every time, I don't understand why they make there stacks parallel to the tilt of the board! Turn them 45 degrees and you've got physics on your side.

God I know people love Pearl Islands and for good reasons, but the Outcasts twist was so poorly handled. Not only did they have those purple rags to make more stable poles, but they had an extra member to help in the challenge compared to Morgan and Drake.

There was this dual challenge in Caramoan or Philippines where both contestants should prevent their little idol to drop first on the ground. What one survivor did was he threw his own idol up in the air so high that prevented it from falling so fast to the ground while he tried to topple his opponent's idol. And it worked.

Most of the "challenges" in Survivor, as well as the game itself have been utterly played out. Personally, I think after the all previous winners Survivor, the whole show should have been chloroformed.

I'd make the video where you'd rank the woman with the greatest physical prowess. I'd be #1, on the April 1st edition that is. I'd make the older ladies with knee replacements look good. You have nothing to fear, I'm not going to ever appear on Survivor. I'd do pretty with the mental challenges, though. My favorite player that never won was Brad Culpepper. But I'm a Gator and Buccaneer fan, so I loved him for football. I also love his stupid TV commercials for his lawfirm. They are so, so, so bad, they're great.
