I think what is most terrifying about the ocean is being there and looking down to see nothing but deep dark water. A game which gives that sensation so well is Stranded Deep. Just being in the vast ocean with literally NOTHING around makes me shudder.

I took my scuba test in a quarry that was flooded and they sank man-made objects like a school bus and a plane. It freaked me out, especially the plane because you're swimming along and the tail just appears out of the gloom and it's huge. We swam through a hatch to get in and the instructor signals you to swim through the fuselage and sit in the cockpit. Creepy as hell.

Rob, as someone who completed the Bloodborne platinum completely solo, and has since earned every other Soulsborne platinum, I say your platinum is just as legitimate as mine. You should be proud and own your accomplishment. That’s the next fear you need to overcome.

I'm a solo offline from software vet from demon's souls ps3 days, played and finished them all, in the middle of Elden Ring. It's still a platinum but you should only get help on those games if you can accept knowing that it's a hollow victory. It's nowhere near the same thing as doing it solo as you know, for Rob it's helped him get through the game and experience it. It's different on stream due to time but I can't see why so many souls players refuse to play the game by themselves. I use guides and look things up regularly so I can make good use of my time, the feeling of knowing you've achieved and overcome is far greater than getting carried by your mates. I'd love for co op just to be arenas and pvp, at the moment there are lots of players in souls games who've no idea how to fight by themselves and that's sad to me, the entire point of gaming is to overcome and learn by doing. I'm almost 40 years old not sure if that has anything to do with it

Gaming fear #1: the fear of disconnecting while playing with an online party. I've had such an experience due to a really problematic router, which had caused me to dc 4 times in 15' while playing Borderlands 2. The worst part is, when I disconnected, everyone else was also kicked because we were in MY session. Since then, I always run a network test before hopping on a party with the rest and cold sweat drips as I behold the skips in the frames of my games; it could start freezing any moment now, I'll have to fix it but I don't know how, so that's one of my worst fears that has me waking up at night in tears.

Despite having a pretty intense phobia of ants I recently went through that disgusting ant nest in Deeproot Depths on Elden Ring. I took a video of it that you can see on my channel but it's quite pathetic. I couldn't manage to get very close, and I moved at a snail's pace. I was petrified at the thought that they might burrow out of the ground or sneak up on me. I wanted to ride quickly through with my horse, but I couldn't bare giving up visibility from a torch. From the first day I got the game I was constantly looking on the internet on where they were so I could avoid them. I'm just glad it's over now.

I have the exact same fear as Ash about big, manmade things underwater. The only time I ever faced this particular fear in a video game was when I played Need for Speed 3: Hot Pursuit on PS1, and there was a level called Aquatica, where you can drive through an underwater tunnel that had glass windows, and you could see a submarine down there. It was my favorite level to play, because it unsettled me...

My fave game of all time, Outer Wilds, but those bloody anglerfish in the Dark Bramble terrify the life outta me. Every time I go in there I’m so scared of making a wrong move. And if I do, and I hear that growl, and see that huge mouth moving towards me, it’s no overstatement to say I just go into blind panic mode. Likelihood of finding your way out through the thick fog while panicking is very low. I love Outer Wilds so much, more than I can say, but Dark Bramble is just…. anxiety inducing.

My sudden fear was the bunker in the first uncharted, id played all day having a whale of a time, and its about 11pm, pretty secure in the thought id probably beat it in another hour or 2, and then the bunker lvl starts, and suddenly this happy go lucky adventure became a horror game i wasnt ready for, it played right into my fear of the dark, i turned the game off and spent the next couple days convincing myself to go back, so i eventually one early morning, with the curtains open fully illuminated, played the lvl, and oh boy was it panic filled, but i beat it and i was glad i had as its still one of the best experiences i had with gaming back in the day.

I'm very lucky in that my major phobias - heights and crowds - are hard to depict in a video game in the precise way that gets me. With heights, it's the fear that one misstep equals like two minutes of terror before the splat; with crowds, it's that they could turn on me at any moment. But I have a minor fear of disease, and Subnatica gets that good. it's that it's invisible, all these little microorganisms rootling through your body. Parasites, too, but video game parasites are often too big to trigger the fear - it's less the mega-parasite on my back as it is the mini-parasite in my small intestine. Limbo and Inside got the parasite grossness well, but even then were slightly too big. The first game that figures out the "you have to move through a crowd, and it's peaceful, but if you do one thing wrong they'll all turn on you" thing will get the honorary Turn The Game Off And Sit There In Thoughtful Silence award.

I had a primal fear of dragon Maleficent from Disney's Sleeping Beauty when I was VERY very small. like, 2 or 3. I forgot about this fear until 2002, when Kingdom Hearts came out 6 days after I turned 15. not only did I have to face dragon Maleficent, but I REALLY struggled with her for some reason. I fought her over and over and over and just couldn't beat her, which added to the fear, because she seemed insurmountable. I felt free of the cutscene I had to watch repeatedly AND my fear when I finally beat her after I-don't-know-how-many tries.

Rob I was also stuck on Tower Knight for 6+ months. You should try another area like 2-1 and level up a little bit before Tower Knight. As far as bosses go he is one of the harder ones in the game, and a lot of the first levels in each world are much easier. Also, when you do fight him take out the archers first but you probably already do that. You should definitely stick with it though, I think Demon’s Souls is still the best looking and smoothest PS5 game out.

My two biggest fears are heights and huge objects. And then I've played How We Soar on the PS VR. Can you see the problem here? XD Well, the first few stages actually were quite okay. My fascination was bigger than my fear. But then there was this one stage where the author was basically spiralling into depression and the whole world looked chaotic and destroyed and there were so many loud sounds. I really struggled to finish this level because there were so many times I felt like I was close to a panic attack and then I was mostly flying around blindly because I kept my head down and my eyes glued to my phoenix's back. It was nice to play once. But I definitely wouldn't want to play it again.

Like that time on the Tomb Raider when you have to reach the radio console up there. It's very weird but I can feel the falling of the character if that happens hahahaha and that scares me a lot. But this do not happen in every game, because there are some games that make this scary in a way that I can't explain. It's like a cold feeling passing through my Body.
