The lack of fires is kind of jarring when You are playing a city builder but looks really cool.

These games are great if you’re good at this stuff. For average people, they don’t have the skills or artistic vision to make anything worthwhile so they wind up not playing or quitting fairly soon due to no ideas or no ability to execute

I've never played a game that let's you execute like this though. It's so worth it. The game gets an update every day with a new theme to start building on for inspiration. Also, every time you load a map, there's a little something to get you started if you want. Don't knock it until you try it.

for the Amsterdam inspired build, how did you get rid of the little stone fences in the ends of the buildings? basically, how do you make smooth floors?

By placing an identical size floor on top of another. You can do it with circular buildings as well. It can also make pillars disappear for floating platforms but that one is finicky.

The game saves all of your undo history, even when you close the game. Hold z to go back to the start of your world. Go into camera mode and press H to hide UI. Hold x to go forward.
