I kept the filter clean and I did run the fan like you said it still smelled it was dirty and moldy I do not and would not refer any kind of mini split with my experience. I put it in my new room edition.. terrible. Replace with a 1 1/2 ton standard unit. Love it with the thermostat no noise,..

Yes I would call an outlet a vent as well, but it depends where you are I guess
