Great comment on shutter speed. However, shutter speed should be discussed based on the lens' aperture and ISO. Higher ISOs (image can be grainy at high ISO settings) will allow faster shutter speeds. Yet, the amount of light that comes in depends on the aperture of the lens. The ideal aperture is f/2.8 or smaller. From a monetary aspect, lenses with f/2.8 tend to be more expensive. There are affordable prime lenses with f/1.8. Renting f/2.8 lenses might be ideal if concert photography is an occasional subject matter. Regardless, the relationship between shutter speed, aperture and ISO is intertwined.

Of course! The three go hand-in-hand for everything. You sacrifice one for the other, change one to be able to change the other. I completely agree!

Very good points overall. However - "The ideal aperture is f/2.8 or smaller." An ideal aperture would be f2.8 or larger. A larger aperture = a larger hole - more light.

@@anzaeria You are right, but I meant "smaller" by referring to the f-stop number. Larger aperture has a smaller f-stop designation.

As a beginner concert photography, I’m struggling with shooting video during the concerts. When I shoot videos I get scrolling flickering lights. What can I do to help with this issue?
@Minhute6 жыл бұрын
Albert Stephens Thats a tough one, its because of all the LED lights and its harder to get rid of them. Sometimes changing up my shutter speed and ISO helps me out and the banding goes away

Nice video, although i have to disagree on the idea of taking 5000 pictures in one show... This will slow down your post proccesing proces a lot... And just gives a lot more files and date slowing you down even more! Which will work against you if you have to provide the pictures in a short timeframe (festivals, magazines, tour,...)

I feel that, in my experience my post production time doesnt have much added to it, but everyones different
