Can you guys believe that those types of rooms exist in Japan? Leave a comment down below if you guys have any funny stories finding a place here in Japan! 😎

Bathing in the kitchen wasn't uncommon, because the kitchen used to be the warmest room in old housings. Would make sense to put a bathtube in the kitchen and seperate it a bit. At least in Europe. My father told me, they had no bath at their yard till the 70s. They washed themselves in the kitchen or in summer outside at the barn as kids.

@@bit0159 also it was cheaper to add the bathroom to the kitchen as it already had plumbing

5:59 - that is not wierd. That is how people in Japan have lived for centuries. Reading other comments it seems that this layout was even common in Europe.

The only way to get between rooms is to go through the toilet room, wtf lol

You guys overlooked some fairly major issues with these apartments: 2:36 I'd say it's a problem that the bathroom doors open out into the hallway. 5:32 I can't believe you didn't notice that the entrance to the apartment is through the bathroom! 8:03 You can't go from any room to any other room without passing through the toilet room. 9:57 There is no door into the apartment.

I'm an architect and I spent several months going through Japanese floorplans and I have never been so traumatized in my life.

Paris still looked cute no matter what I did to her hair 😩 and the more I saw the floor plans, the luckier I felt to live in my current apartment 😄

That 4door toilet is basically a hallway with a toilet in it. Amazing. XD

I’m honestly scared that it’d even be a squat toilet. easy mobility around it but it’s still a miniature manhole in the middle of your hallway 😷

Honestly, you'd have to assume that floorplan was a mistake, as there is plenty of room for the toilet in the actual bathroom.

I was worried when I saw the video on my home page because I secured an apartment yesterday; it is a relief that I feel like I have made a good choice after watching this video.

Every time I see videos about apartments in Japan, it reinforces my thought if I ever lived there, a rural apartment is the way to go.

Recently I moved to tsuchiura 1 hr from tokyo Now I have a 2LDK apartment for 47000 per month lol Everyday it takes 2hrs total from my apartment to Tokyo and then back. But it's worth it. I can live like I'm back in Sydney lol. Plus it's 10 mins by foot from the station and with a bicycle it's 4-5 mins

I think the kitchen bath one also has the toilet door opening toward the sink so it won't open fully and you'll have to squeeze through. Genius

Wow, these apartments sure had some oddly... er badly designed floor plans. 🤪 Thankfully, I have been researching about Japan extensively for quite a bit of time to cover my bases before I move over in around 2 years. With some luck I will find a nice apaato; then with my pen, hanko stamp, & funds I will be prepared for all the fun paper work that goes along with living in Nihon. Emma that was very sweet of you not to give the obligatory "Wasabi Punishment" to Paris.

A lot of people mention bringing pets to Japan, but only bring up cats and dogs. Does anyone know how apartments feel about birds? I have one small parrot (Green Cheek Conure) that I will be bringing with me.
