This was certainly a different video than what woodworking KZbinrs put out but I very much enjoyed it. You make some very solid points and trying to enjoy those moments with your children before they move on to lives of their own is most definitely an opportunity to cherish.

One of the things I'm trying to accomplish in 2024 is more predictability and consistency in my videos. I've done a lot of experimenting in the last year, and a lot of different kinds of videos.

Its crazy to me watching videos like this and thinking how much has changed in 30 years. When iwas 3 I was in the shop with my dad sanding. 4 i was using the hand plane, 5 I was using the bandsaw. By 12 i could build anything. But there wasn't the safety aspect thought of yet. Bandsaw, table saw, drill press, routers and router table without safety glass, ear protection, or feather boards and push sticks. Its great that stuff is a thing now and i wonder how i still have all of my fingers lol your kids will be able to do anything and will be incredibly grateful when theyre grown. Youre a good dad

@@worstworkshop there was a slight down side I guess depends on how you look at it. By the time I got to high school I could take wood shop and metal shop and sleep during the actual class portion, ace my written tests and builds and basically used them as free periods because I was already taught all of it. People in class would get so mad me and another student would sleep and get the highest grades. The teacher was an old hippie and told them maybe they should try sleeping too 😂 dad's who teach their kids are awesome

Great video! My oldest daughter she does more of the finishing cause she’s not a power tools girl lol. My youngest daughter is 5 and she is all about building anything and everything, except with loud noises lol. I got her some ear muffs and she is right beside me again. Watching your videos reminds me of that and it’s wonderful for their memories and life skills. Keep the videos coming when you have time. God bless!

Loving the videos. My daughter recently started joining me in my shop ( she is in her 20s) because she wanted to make a gift for a friend. since the first project we have built a guitar together and will build her some bookshelves for her apartment this summer. It is really nice hanging out with her.

Great message. May I add, have a place is your shop that’s there is area with things they like. For my twin 5yo girls, I have a TV with all there paw patrol, swings attached to the rafters hanging in my assembly area, along with a small table, snacks drinks and paint. It’s the shop, great place for the girls to do there art. I have found they will help me for about 5min and then go play. But that repeats all day.

I’ve learned that it takes me 2-3x as long as I predict when I’m working by myself…. It’s about 10x when my boys are in the shop 😂

Please make sure that the kids do not wear long sleeves when turning wood (a chip can get caught). This can also be dangerous on the band saw.

I commented previously that I think it is awesome what you are doing with your girls. After a couple of weeks of thinking about it, God moved me to donate towards you AC so you can continue your effort with them. As I said before, my biggest concern for your girls is finding suitable husbands when they grow up!
