Great video, as usual, but you were lucky making photos of these beautiful birds in some sanctuary, where they were domesticated and not afraid of people. In tip 1 you recommending lenses up to at least 300mm, which is not much really if you are in the WILD, where photographers using usually at least 500mm, 600mm lenses, which are most expensive ones. Further on all pictures you showing are made with much shorter 24-70mm lens, so basically like a kit lens, which means, if you didn't need to crop them, that you were almost at range of touching these beauties with your hand. In thick leather glove if so, for your safety😉 Apart from that great photos, informative tutorial and looking forward to next one 👍😊

Great stuff as always. Select the owl and desaturate it then redo your oranges and yellows and he wont have blue feathers. Ive been learning with birds and they’ll keep it interesting and educational.

Hi Lucy, great tutorial as usual. I have taken many owl photos and have edited them in both lightroom and luminar 4 and i have to say the results in luminar bring out much more detail in the owl feathers as you have sliders for small, medium and large details which work really well on this type of photo. Thats not to knock lightroom though, i love both programs. Just try it. Thanks again for another great tutorial, love the background tips in particular.

Hi Lucy, just started subscribing and I was wondering about the lightroom display you are showing. In the upper left of the photos it shows the name of the photo and the settings. Did you add that later for us or is there a way to always display that like that within Lightroom? I think that would help me as I process to learn from mistakes in future photos.

An interesting video, thanks. Am I right that these were captive birds? In the wild I usually find that they fly off if I am not very careful!

Would have loved to have taken up the offer of trying two months of Skill share for free, unfortunately they won't let me unless I give them my credit card details: if it is free they shouldn't need my card details.

They look like captive/trained birds? You can't get that close to wild raptors.... Miss information here?
@ModularMuscle4 жыл бұрын
So you photoshop out the tag of a captive bird and call it "wildlife", then say 70mm is enough for "wildlife".. right...
@captinktm4 жыл бұрын
I was really hoping to get some good editing tips from you but your shots are not of wild birds. Christ being that close you should be able to produce Jpegs which are perfect with little or no editing at all. The birds I shot are never closer than 50 meters and more often 100 plus. Try cropping then and producing a sharp image. Shame I was desperate for some guidance.
