I am currently a Clinical Research Assistant and discovered that a Graduate Certificate is offered at the University I work at. You have helped me decide that this is the best decision for me.

Thanks so much for this video! I’m hoping to become a clinical researcher. When I was younger I did 2 clinical trials and they were staffed by the sweetest women and they really inspired me. Your videos are so encouraging and fun to watch :)

that makes me smile 💕☺️ i’m so glad that you were able to learn about clinical research at a young age and that they inspired to become one! And i’m sure you will be an excellent clinical researcher ! And thank you so much for tuning in and your kind words 😇

I’ve been seriously considering going back to school… I have a computer science background but with ai, the future for entry level programming is looking bleak. My step dad was a manager of clinical trials when I met him, now he’s like the director or something. He worked from home (except for his monthly visits), so I feel like I picked up on some things, a lot of the lingo, at least. Also heard a lot of cras get fired over the years. He’d always be sad those days. He always said he’d be able to get me a good job… idk, I just might go for it. Would also improve our relationship🙃

Personally, I don't consider CRA to be > Sr. CRC... It all depends on the institution. Also CRCs can become Site Managers/Site Directors/Site Owners and make more than Sr. CRA/CTM/PM... All depends on what your goals are.

Hi ! This is great video! It’s so true what you said! I have done bachelor’s in 2004 and masters in 2009. I have long gap of not working now I want to go back to work after raising kids. What do you suggest me to do to get into CRC or even assistant to start with. Is there any possibility to get into CRC with this huge education gap?

I came across your page while watching your KZbin videos regarding CRA experience. I recently applied and made it to my second interview but later was denied the job. The feedback I received was more CRC experience and onsite monitoring experience. I’ve been a CRC for 3. Years now. Do you have any tips to break into the industry?
@MarleyKim6 ай бұрын
You can apply for a company that has a CRA training program like parexel, and iqvia. Look into those. Being a CRC has some transferable skills but it doesn’t really prepare you for the CRA role entirely so those programs help.

Do you think having a Non-Medical Background and Non-Medical Bachelors Degree would allow me to transition to this role? I am 58 years old with a lot of skills that I believe are transferable. Would love to hear your perspective.
@MarleyKim Жыл бұрын
you can have any degree and work in research, but it may be difficult to get a CRA role because CRA role is not entry level.

Hey! .. this is all new to me so I didn’t realize I probably should go for CRC first. I’m a nurse and was interested in a CRA RN role and I surprisingly got an interview at a top notch cancer research hospital here in Tennessee for CRA I. I was feeling like maybe i should step back and just apply to CRC roles but I’m also like it’s so rare to get an interview here so should i just go for it? Is it something I could probably get a grasp of after a few months? Does nursing give people with no research experience some type of advantage? Have u heard of people willing to train someone with no CRC experience?. I was transparent on my resume as well 🤷🏽♀️I’m just wondering am i wasting my time going to this interview lol
@MarleyKim Жыл бұрын
no nursing does not give people with no research experience an advantage to my knowledge, when u are a CRN and and CRC you do exactly the same things in the research department. U might have more knowledge on the human body than a person that doesn’t have a premed or science background, but majority of cra’s and crc’s have a science background. However I do know a handful of folks that are cra’s that didn’t have a science background but it was rare.
@MarleyKim Жыл бұрын
I don’t think any interview is a waste of time. if they are willing to interview u with no research experience maybe that company is willing to train you. it’s their budget. It will take u about a year or two to truly grasp the cra role. Every manager i’ve had at CRO’s explained that to us. Because u will not experience all that u can as a cra in a few months. and if u are a cra for a cancer institute u probably won’t be traveling or doing the regular task of a cra anyway. I worked at a top cancer institute as well and the monitors there were just there to check charts and monitor the coordinators eligibility check list etc. When u work for a CRO, the experience is much much different. working for an institution vs pharma are two different experiences.
@MarleyKim Жыл бұрын
I think this is a great video topic because many people think if u are a nurse that it places u at an advantage and in my almost 8 years of experience it does not. The RN doesn’t make the role different the responsibilities are the same. At an institute u might get paid 5-10k more than a person with a science degree. but at a CRO it’s how u negotiate ur salary and institution cannot afford to pay u what pharma pays u
@emmat5691 Жыл бұрын
@@MarleyKim thanks for your in depth response! I’ll take a chance with the interview but will keep everything in mind as well. That kinda sucks i probably won’t be traveling lolllll i was getting kinda excited about that. Thanks again!
@MarleyKim Жыл бұрын
idk if you’ll be traveling or not but i’ve never heard of a cancer institute sending CRAs out to monitor sites, bc ur site would be the hospital. When u work for a clinical research organization they partner with pharma and the cro is the third party that the pharma company uses to monitor sites. Which is why I don’t see why they would have u traveling.
