Collecting sneakers over the years, I've learnt a few things when it comes to building it. If you're new to building a sneaker collection today I'm going over a few tips that have helped me out.

Totally agree with all these tips. One thing to add that I’m trying to stick to myself: decide on the maximum number of pairs in the collection. Once that number is hit, if something new comes in, something has to go out. This is especially useful when one is on a tight sneaker budget, and/or living in a relatively small house or apartment.

Its been the same for me too. I've moved around my whole life and am now living in a place the longest I've lived anywhere. I've finally been able to start building a collection. It helps having a good job with quarterly profit sharing. So most my money goes into streetwear and sneakers.

Couple tip I’ve learned over the years is to invest in some good shoe trees to keep your shoes shape, diversifying your collection by buying different brands and models & buy some good alternative lace options to have ready to lace swap as some trainers don’t come with extra laces and a lace swap and make all the difference in making a model stand out and change its look.

At first: Thanks for your content, you doing a great job of entertaining. keep up the good work! I would like to share some things I have during my time of collecting sneakers: 1. investment into some good shoetrees (wood with a good stretch) is worth it to keep the shape of your sneakers. you got different materials which will react different when temperatures change. this can lead to distortions. 2. control of temperature and humidity. temp should be max 17°C. it will prevent moving of the softener in the rubber which will keep the sole in a soft condition for a longer period. the temp should also not getting to deep (molding) 3. Shut down any UV light influences in your sneaker room. It will slow down yellowing and aging a lot. use artificial light. 4. Keep your sneakers in a dust (and dirt) free environment (boxes e.g.). this will help keeping the sneakers in a brand new condition for longer period and the materials suffer less. 5. If you store your shoes acc. to 1-4 then Ventilate your shoes regularly (e.g. once every 6-12 month for like 24 hrs.) and store them again after this procedure. 6. wear your shoes regularly. some foam tend to crumble after a specific period. we all know that. the moisture in the air will be locked into the foams tiny little bubbles and will not move out. this will lead to crumbling after ten years+. you can extend this effect by wearing your shoes from time to time for a couple of hours. you will "press" the moisture out of the foam sole while walking which will prevent the aforementioned effect (at least slow down). also the heat of your foot activates the glue again which will prevent falling apart for a longer period. after all that being said the sad thing is that you can only slow down the effect of falling apart. in the end noting last forever. this also applies to shoes. sadly. keep it up and show us your collection in a special video. regards from Germany. @@jdubb45 Hi. Thank you, appreciated, you are welcome. I recommend storing in boxes. I store my shoes in the OG cardboard boxes which are then put into an additional cardboard box, which is slightly sealed with tape (so practically a box in a box. Alternatively You can also use plastic boxes with a lid which seals airtight. If you use plastic it is important to ventilate the shoes regularly to avoid molding. I like the version with two cardboard boxes more than using sealed plastic boxes because it allows the shoes "to breathe" more. By the way: the OG shoeboxes can be unfolded/folded flat in order to store them space-saving. This might be useful if you use plastic boxes for your shoes. BR

Dude! Your attic is as well insulated as the rest of your house. Building regs for new builds in the UK are some of the best in the world. You can leave them no issue up there , assuming you’ve got no dust there,. If the attic hasn’t got plaster board up, it’s a small job hire any labourer or carpenter from Check a Trade and order your materials from jewsons or any trade supply company in the uk . Literally a days work

I live in a new build and my sneakers are mostly stored in the attic. Got some in clear crep protect boxes and their original boxes all fine. If it was an older build with poor insulation etc then I’d go with the dehumidifier to sort the issue.

While the Lack shoe display looks dope. It’s not practical because of sunlight exposure could ruin colour, shoe odour stinks up the room, and dust coating your shoes depending on how frequently you wear them all.

I didn’t want to keep dusting my shoes off and especially on the suede material so I got a shoe shelf that has enclosures with clear doors for each pair. I can still grab them easily, see them, and it keeps them dust-free

Sound advice as always man… I love the idea of a sneaker room with them on display but my wife would loose it 😂. I say buy what you like. When I was younger I always wanted the J5 Fire Red. Fortunate enough to buy what I want. I love hype stuff ( retail only though) but there is always a special place for nostalgia … Insta pumps, J1s, retro runners. If it makes you happy, I’m happy. If it makes you homeless it’s a problem which was sad to see in comments.

are sneaker boxes bad for shoes? I have a room for just my shoes I keep the best ones in plastic drop front boxes that are black all around except for the drop front lid. I know sneakers not getting oxygen is not good and can cause the glue to dry out, so I burp the containers like once or twice a week. should I be okay? also 0 windows in this room so 0 sun light and stays around 65-70 degrees.
