Whenever he doesn't buy a shoe, it really teaches one important thing: he doesn't believe in snickers as a long term investment. If he didn't, he wouldn't mind going for a rare one for a lower than market price. He said he couldn't sell one piece for a year...so basically he's comparing it to any other investment: if you can't make 10% interest a year for the investment, and you're not guaranteed to sell it, don't bother. He'd rather just sell for a similar margin but very quickly, so he doesn't risk the possibility of declining value
@ZaasKenar10 ай бұрын
Why would the value of a rare shoe decline?

I think he just works at a business that has overhead, bills, and payroll every month. If your capital is all tied up in long-term product, then you have no short-term funds to pay the bills. He may believe sneakers are great long-term investments, but unfortunately, long-term investments don't pay immediate bills unless they're liquidated. He works in a high volume business where they have to spend a lot up front before they can make anything. So to generate needed cashflow, they have to sell quickly.

Right. You could get a bespoke custom made oxford from a renowned shoemaker for less than that. Hell throw on some crocodile for the leather and it'll be like 10-14k. These are shoes that cost what they cost because of the labor and materials put into them, so they hold their value no matter what unless you absolutely abuse them. Plus they can be refurbished easily for a price, and will last you a lifetime, and look way nicer than any sneakers But hey a hobby is a hobby. Not every expense is practical. I've spent good money on scale statues of my favorite video game characters and those just sit around looking pretty.

On something this ugly and made with cheap cheap cheap leather...YES Marketing masterminds at play. When you draw the hard bottom line, all the buyers want is the luxury items that the uber rich get to enjoy everyday. The genius of the scheme is making them believe they buy ultra luxury items at ultra luxury prices when in reality the items are of such poor poor quality and materials that the profit margins are off the scale. If you can make a product for 20$ and sell them at upwards of 500$ then hats off to your marketing team.

@RamitheiconClips you seem like by far 1 of the chillest n genuine dudes doin this. I get surprised n a bit of a laugh when u say things like "a while ago...like 2018.." "...when I was in High School..." U seem older and it makes me feel old. Reminds me how long I been doing this. The Game has changed so much. Resell stores were few n far between and NONE paid cash. Strictly consignment. Also Nike/JB/SB n most brands ONLY dropped on Saturdays and it would drop at MIDNIGHT The minute it turned the day of release so u could try online and then go to stores later in AM when stores opened if u took an L or wanted more pairs. U were lucky to get 2 Saturdays a month that had something worth copping...and sometimes a whole month would go with nothing good. I miss a lot of that cuz the hungrier got the pairs...first come, first served and u grew face to face relationships with owners and managers to pyo. It was a LOTTT less common to see ppl rockin even decent Jordans/Nikes and if they had on a decent release u knew they were full on sneakerheads. Now its not at all rare, everyone got something decent on. The game was very different. Copping SBs in 2003 (when I was Senior in High School) for retail like it was nothin...then got big into them (SBs) big in 2007-2016 so I got FSRs of every black and blue box and a lot of gold boxes too...its mind boggling what most r worth now. If ppl knew how EASY some of those were to get it'd blow they minds. Many hit outlets and didn't even sell in outlets down to 35$ (mosquitos, loons, chromeball incidents, koston lows, anchormans, asparagus got down to 20$,) and resell was low in 2009-2013 I remember being hyped that we were gettin $450 for OG Skunk Highs 😂. When ppl see my collection they think I'm absolutely loaded but nooo wayyy I would own the heaters I own if it wasn't for reselling and being smart and holding onto 2 pairs of just about every release. Moral of the story...u just in the beginning...tuck away some of the real good ones cuz even the bricks will eventually be heaters some day. 23 years in this game heavy!
