I couldn't agree more I've been so inspired by Jens and friends. I find myself really pushing myself harder now, accepting those challenges. In a months time, they've helped me raise my game to keep up largely with some top Tahoe area mogul ballers. now I'm in the gym and biking hard, training up for next season. I need some trampoline time now. Enjoy the journey bro!

Whenever I watch KZbin videos of skiing, there's always dudes with perfect hair, doing perfect turns, after arriving to the alope with their helicopter. Lol But I appreciate your honesty and showing us the reality behind skiing and that learning is a continuous process.

It was 2019, when I cut the 'cord', to that TV. Got into YT, and began studying economics and finance very seriously. I still do today. But I'm now finding that increased ability in learning, studying, focusing, is applicable to my skiing too. I just now realized this, although I've been acting on it since the spring. It's very exciting! Seriously, I'm gaining more knowledge from every viewing & reviewing.

Videoanalysis is key to compare the inner view (how we see and feel ourselfs) with the outer view (by camera or/and ski instructor) - and we all have to be honest to ourselfs. Great video, great tips - but nothing can beat a camp with a good coach, to my opinion. It completes the toolbox. Keep up your great work.

Just want to echo another comment ... love your authenticity. To hear u talk about your learning journey is awesome. Becoming a truly accomplished skier takes A LOT of work, so understanding and enjoying the journey is a huge part of it. I would like to make just 2 technical comments. To increase your edge angle u might want to try shortening your inside leg a little sooner so u r able to increase your edge angle in a way that doesn't move your center of mass as far inside, so u will find that u can increase your tipping/toppling. This way u can get more edge angle while still keeping most of your weight on the outside ski. As u shorten your inside leg you will need to feel like you are "trying" to pull your inside foot back underneath you to maintain ankle flex. Try that ... see if it helps. Tom Gellie has some very good video on shortening the inside leg. Also, with for/aft balance try playing around with moving your feet (especially your outside foot) back to increase tip pressure and then forward to pressure the tail. VERY subtle movements and MUCH easier than trying to move your upper body forwards and backwards.

Jens, I took a series of webinars with Tom and Sam recently. They were stressing how to use inclination (“topping”) first, followed by angulation. Using inclination to achieve edge angles requires patience and contributes to how far inside Tom’s hips have to travel to balance against the outside ski. By contrast, it looks to me like you’re not allowing enough time to reach a higher edge angle by using inclination before you start angulating. //Marshall
@StompItTutorials2 жыл бұрын
I would agree. To topple first then angulate I think I said so in this video. As we where filming a live coaching video Josh our head instructor was training me infront of the camera and that was the thing he made me work on. You will can see that in the next video coming in 5-8 days :) Thanks you for the accurate feedback Marshal.

My tendency is go too much from weighting forward to backward through the turn, so I have always tried to keep it forward all the way through. Seems from what you say that my natural pattern was actually not so wrong. Still I am surprised to hear that I should end my turn with my weight back!
@Sqwivig Жыл бұрын
I think the reason you want to exit the turn a tiny bit back (not backseat obviously, but be able to feel the tails of your skis) is so your legs can spring forward and really push the shin into the front of your boot on the next turn. The most important place to be forward in your boots is at the start of your turn. It's only natural that you will rock back a tiny bit, but as long as your center of mass is correct it's not a big deal. It's literally impossible to be "forward" 100% of the time.
