Yes, location but also material - Ice or snow? To bad that this couldn't be planned using a cad cam. Then you could figure the amount of blocks for each row you need. And it would change depending on the size of the igloo you want to build.

i have seen this idea before, i think there is even a snow box that someone made for this already. this is not an igloo for very significant reasons nor a quinzhee although after completion is looks like a quinzhee. in a survival situation you wouldn't have your gadget with you to make this type. learn the original and when you are in an actual situation where you need a winter shelter then you just need your own skills and knowledge to survive. nice video regard the 5 steps you talk about.
