In this tutorial, I go over 5 tips to get your pads right. The first tip revolves around proper note selection with your pad. If your notes are bunched up and not opened voiced, this can make your pad sound muddy due to overlapping frequencies. Open voicing will help to spread out the frequencies, so you don't get too much frequency response in one section.
The 2nd tip will revolve around using MID/SIDE EQ to allow your arp/lead to have its own space. Using MID/SIDE EQ, we can cut down in the center signal where our lead or arp will sit and make room for it.
The 3rd tip will talk about what to do if you don't want to open voice your pads. In this scenario, we cut down on the frequencies that have too much information causing this resonating vibe that you may not want.
The 4th tip will involve using Ozone Imager to spread out our frequencies to give them their own space. Usually, the lower frequencies will be more mono, and the higher frequencies will ahve more stereo information.
Finally, we go over compressing a pad utilizing a very mellow compression just to deal with some pads that have too much dynamic movement.

Hey g! Really think you should have a look into the whole minimal house scene, its seriously blowing up at the moment and tutorials in the style of guys like Chris Stussy, Toman, Jake Flory, Matpri, Michael James would be so sick! I know Julian Earle has already done a few but it would be nice to see your take on it all too. These tips are also super useful for that style of house so big ups mate!

@@raksrah944 Mono Pads. I should of mentioned this but you can make pads by using osc a and b and detuning via fine instead of using unison. You want a monolayer so that it doesn't sound weird when it collapses into mono.

7:12 and continue - very fast explaining. I can say there's no chance to hear 'that' annoying voice which we should cut. To explain what are you really doing, you should put EQ example from fabfilter and make "more peaky qurve" using "Q" to make more clear that annoying voice which you looking for. Anyway, respect for video. Very helpful. Thanks for that.

Pads don't get their credits because nearly everybody uses them but most don't want you to hear they use them. Most rock bands use them to make for example their guitars biiiiiigger than life but you don't hear it until you mute it, than you realize there is fatness missing. :) you can spice up nearly everything using pads, strings, very low octaves pianos and such as long it's mixed in the background. Cool videos btw. Cheers.
