Je fais un art journal dédié aux collages, car mon grenier ne peut plus supporter de toiles supplémentaires, j'avais laissé tomber le collage depuis une dizaine d'années....je me suis consacrée à de la peinture sur toile, et au mix-media sur art-journal, bien envie de fabriquer un journal spécial collage. For myself, I like having a dedicated place for all the the collages in a project so I have a journal for 100 Days 2022 and now another for 2023; I’m also working on mixed media projects in Wanderlust, inspired by a local group of artists. I’ll need to pace myself and allow myself to download lessons or videos to watch on my own schedule. I have a stash of papers left from last year’s project so I hope to use them up! I might also try aligning multiple projects… for example I’ve made a bunch of gel print papers in a color challenge so I might use them with my doors pages!

Great start to this challenge. How do you get your collage pieces not to buckle up when gluing down? Some of my images will not lay smoothly.

I think it depends on the paper, sometimes mine buckle and sometimes my art journal curls! Lay a heavy book on it, on top of baking paper, so it doesn't stick, that should flatten it over night! Cheers Froyle

I've been following you for some time and you have helped so much. I embarked on my first large canvas collage. Unfortunately I have so many bubbles even though I tried so hard not to. Once drying they popped up everywhere. I used matt gel and several different types of paper I printed on gel prints. Any suggestions?

If the paper is now dry you can try carefully slicing a little hole with an sharp blade & let the air out to squash the bubbles, cheers

Hi Froyle, I have learned so much from your videos. Thank you! I’m having an issue where sometimes when adding tissue paper that I’ve gelli printed or stamped, as I push out the air bubbles, the paint smears. It’s acrylic paint and deli paper and it has dried completely before I use it. It’s not happening with all of them, just a few. Also I’m using the same mat medium you’re using. Any thoughts? Maybe it’s the deli paper? Does not happen with printer paper.

I’ve never used deli paper, but sometimes I find this happens with the spray inks! I try not to push too hard & work around it, sometimes it stains the paper next to it, so I wash my brush & keep going! 👍🏼 you could spray the paper with a spray varnish before you glue it on, that does help! 😘 cheers
