This is excellent. I’ll just add, even if you can do your own setup, about every six months you should have a pro do it. If you travel to an area with a different climate, you should have it set up then too. Basic the weather effects the instrument’s materials; they’ll expand and contract, the neck can become bowed-a leading cause of fret buzz-and you get ‘fret sprouts’ where the edges of the neck feel sharp at the frets. Frets should also be polished and the fret board cleaned (finger grime) and re-oiled to condition the wood about twice a year. It pays to learn how to do this yourself along with how to change your strings. A cheap guitar that gets some love can play like a guitar costing four times as much.

Thank you for the tips. My guitar has been buzzing a lot recently. I got it restrung for the first time because it was long overdue. But it buzzs in certain areas of guitar (mostly on certain single notes). I took it to get looked at about a week later, but they didn't notice the buzzing. They just said that perhaps I am used to used strings and to give the guitar time. But if that's the case, I don't know how long to give it because I can't play how I usually play without a buzz and it's very annoying.

These are ALL Great Points. Try these before you start doing physical changes on your Guitar. I'd like to add one more that no one seems to mention. This is: POSTURE of your Body and POSTURE of your Guitar. Good Posture of the Body and Good Posture of the Guitar (its position) greatly impacts both one's playing and the Sound you are making. Often, a Buzzing Sound is caused by the way you're holding your Guitar. It should be held Straight up & Down, basically parallel to Torso. Tipping the Guitar so you can see the Fretboard changes the ANGLE which impacts how each String is played. An incorrect Fretboard Angle might mean Strings are not being Fretted evenly, Strummed evenly and/or even effecting the Sound of the Strings next to it. Posture impacts everything when playing the Guitar. When Practicing, create a Good Check System in your Mind to go thru before you Play & start off correctly. (Head to Floor & then Position of Guitar). Now & then stop Practice and go thru the Checkpoints and make any adjustments. High Repetition is the name of the Game for creating all new Habits (Physical or Mental) as well as establishing Muscle Memory. It's much easier to create Good Habits than try to unlearn and re Learn Bad ones. Learn the Rules first before you Break them.

Really nice troubleshooting tips, I'll just add: When learning a chord, specially for the first times, ring each string at a time to see if you are doing it right for all of them, this basically goes along with the tips presented, but often tip #3 for arching the fingers is the culprit of a bad sounding chord. Also place all the fingers for the chord at the same time and alternate with another chord till you get it right. Remember to practice, memory muscle will take over and you'll do it right without thinking about it. On my case my guitar is the cheapest of the cheapest, but being a bit of a tinkerer I fixed the set-up myself. That said, in my case I made a proper bridge sadle out of bone, I've installed a piezo pickup and also a pre-amplifier... Not for the faint of heart to make holes in a guitar.... but I did it in a 50€ guitar that came with a bag and a digital tuner. Often the cheapest guitars have a big bridge sadle made of plastic that makes the action of the strings really high (I could fit the pinky finger between the strings and the fret board) so it requires a bit of sanding to make it right. This is not something that easy to accomplish if you are not used to work with wood or metal, but it is not that hard either as plastic is easy to sand, although one as to make sure that everything is square and true. To be on the safe side take it to someone who does set-ups (probably ask in guitar/music shops if you can't find a luthier near you), although in my case it is quite far to get to one....
@JohnOhkumaThiel4 жыл бұрын
Same here, cheap guitar, fixed it up, upgraded various parts, much better than if I had bought an expensive guitar in the first place. Changing the nut and bridge saddles makes a huge difference.

Good quality!what camera do you use for your videos? I need one for mine
@Jose-Sousa4 жыл бұрын
I think it is not as much as the camera, but the lighting setup that is spot on. I own several cameras (mostly for photography) from tiny compacts to large aperture bridges and whole camera systems with several lens, while I'm no expert (specially when comes to video), in my experience good lighting makes quite a difference in the perceived quality of the image. She is probably using a Sony RX100 (though there are a lot of versions, the early ones aren't that good for video), for usual the recomendations I've seen Sony RX100 VA and Sony ZV-1, but if that is a bit too expensive you can look at the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III (it is very versalite, has good quality and it is not too expensive). Some alternatives would be something from the Micro 4/3 system (sadly Panasonic dropped out of this system), some sony alpha cameras, maybe some canon mirrorless ones or some Panasonic Lumix ones. Just keep in mind that there is no perfect camera, so set a budget and evaluate the pros and cons of each of the options you find. Hope it helps!
