Guys a sleep routine for newborns does not exist 😩😩 you sleep when they sleep (theoretically), you cuddle the crap out of your baby and deal with it until they can sleep more than 2-3 hours at a time. It’s a war zone out here 😂

Mom of 5 here w/ a disabled husband so I've been down the road of *prepare as much as you can*: If you are able to while you're pregnant pre-make meals that are ready to go straight from the freezer to the oven. Then if you can save them for AFTER your help leaves/goes back to work/whatever the case may be; it will give a bit more cushion for the adjustment period after birth. Also, keep a basket next to your bed/baby's bed/ wherever you will be doing nighttime feeds. Keep some diapers, wipes, a pj change, bottled water (if you're breastfeeding) and a bottle with formula premeasured (if you're formula feeding). Maybe an extra phone charger or book, snack for yourself? Basically anything you might need in the middle of the night right there within reach so you don't have to go find it during the night with a baby who's fussy and awake.

About breastfeeding: I remember with my first baby, in those first 2 weeks, feeling so STUCK and like I couldn't imagine breastfeeding for a full year. Baby blues really centered around the pain I had from a bad latch in the first 24 hours (got that fixed but it still hurt for a week or two) and the fact that he was nursing every 2 hours. I remember crying about how that was going to be all I did for a full year! IT. GOT. BETTER. By 4 weeks, I was texting with one hand and nursing with the other, and enjoying my baby! It just took the time to get over that damaged nipple from the bad latch and to adjust to the new routine. He breastfed for 15 months and I loved it! So - to a new mom (or myself in 2 months with baby #2) - the first 2 weeks aren't a good representation of the rest of breastfeeding!

Sitz baths, padsicles /cold packs and my peri bottle are all my best friends at the moment. Praying for a speedy recovery 🙏🏽 because this pain is horrendous !

There was a very sweet, well-intending nurse in the NICU that came in while I was (for the 100th time that day) attempting to get my baby to latch. She saw me trying and came over and said “want some help?” , grabbed my boob and aggressively shoved it into my baby’s mouth. I know sometime they are rough with it because it can help the baby know it’s there and latch a bit easier, but after maybe 30 seconds of him not taking it she says “maybe you just weren’t meant to breastfeed!” Is this really how nurses think? Doesn’t breastfeeding normally take a lot of work, especially with NICU babies? We finally got him to latch without a shield after two months of working hard at it and had a wonderful breastfeeding journey for over a year and a half. 🥰 I just had to stay diligent!!

Biggest tip for post-partum as mom of 4 with #5 due in 7 weeks: REST! Mammas, you all deserve to be loved and cared for, just as much as the precious child you just brought into the world, so have your support team ready to go and USE THEM. I know it’s especially hard during COVID, but as the Lady Sarah herself says, nothing is worth your mental health (or your physical health) so don’t feel guilty or inadequate when you need to ask people to make you meals, or do your laundry, or watch your kids, or take over any other responsibilities that need to be off your own plate for a while.

I was able to stick with it even though some people where practically trying to force it on us! It wasn't painful, but it was a weird annoying feeling, borderline a tad of pain, caught me off guard, taken aback the first few times - Lol. Hopefully getting a vabc this time, interested to see if it's a different feeling. Side note, I second getting help... I had terrible terrible PPD, started in the hospital, and my mom was a huge help to my husband and I. Thats so true about breastfeeding in one day it felt so easy. I couldn't imagine having to get out of bed to actually make bottles and warm the milk and clean the bottles. (I am a stay at home mom and think that has a lot to do with BF coming so easy to me personally) Also my fomo with my babys was so bad I could not sleep if someone was watching my baby. I usually just tried to nap when they nap. For baby #2 I would have someone come pick up big brother and i would nap with baby then they went to the park or lunch. Flex and Flow 💪& ⤴️

I am currently 36 weeks pregnant with my second and am beginning to get nervous about labor and delivery. With my first I had went septic from infection behind a kidney stone and conceived my daughter 2 weeks later. Ever since I had my first ( she is almost 2) I have had major burning pains in my bladder, trouble emptying my bladder, kidney pain, and pain during intercourse. I am not sure if this was all caused from sepsis or the delivery of my daughter but I definitely do not want it to get worse going through another delivery. Any suggestions or ideas on what is going on?

I now everyone views this differently, but it helps so much to get your little one on a schedule. My baby loves the routine, and is doing awesome now that he knows when he'll be fed, and having things the same day to day. This has helped me so much with getting sleep!
@loracorwyn37133 жыл бұрын
Having a routine (schedules are discouraged like the video states) has helped for peace of mind but not with sleep. Everyones family is different, hopefully your comment helps someone else though. Babies are supposed to wake often, it helps prevent them from sids. I’m not complaining, I’m glad they wake, it’s just the hardest part for my family and it has been for all three of our kids when they were newborn.

😂What the hell is a birthing person!!? A woman sacredly giving birth to a human baby is reduced to a cold...birthing person? One of the MOST sacred things a woman could do, should never be reduced to, birthing person. Also, fundal message after c-section is so rough!
@sarahlavonne3 жыл бұрын
Birthing person is actually an expansion on woman. It doesn't include women but includes all people. I know it may be uncomfortable for you but it is the respectful terminology
@explaincauseidontgetit32943 жыл бұрын
@@sarahlavonne it’s definitely not uncomfortable to me, it diminishes the nature of a woman. Women in all their glory, needs no expansion. It doesn’t diminish a man’s role or a non-heterosexuals role in the partnership of bringing a baby into this world, but it is a gift that women bring, that should not be sidelined by calling them a birthing person. I’m curious how long this term has been in circulation as correct medical terminology.

I have a question and a tip for other new mommas. I just had my second, and getting help with number 2 is also totally okay! Tip: try not to compare your experience to other people’s stories. Just because your postpartum depression/anxiety isn’t as bad as other stories you’ve seen, doesn’t mean your feelings aren’t valid. Please still talk to someone 🤍 Question: I know newborns having little swollen breast buds is totally normal, but how long do they last? My 3 week old son still has them 👀
