Azusa back in the 70's and 80's were the best....as a kid my dad would drive us out there in the International Scout for the weekend...we used to be able to camp out there and have a good time.....we left the area clean when we left to.... nowadays its overran with mexicans, camping is illegal now, and theres trash everywhere......still a fun place to go wheeling.....thanks for the video

Yea there awesome trucks how ever if you go fordtng deep water make sure the gasket on the fuel cap is good. And also the oil cap is secure cuz if not ur fuel an oil will get contaminated with water

Impressive !! But now the miserable job of maintenance of all the water susceptible parts begins....

Ross Lambert I thought this truck was meant for that, hence the snorkel...
@ajax11375 жыл бұрын
@@Cougnut5150 There's a lot more to preservation than just the engine. Transmission, transfer case, axles, steering knuckles. There is a "fording kit" that slightly pressurizes all of these to push water out. It's unclear if his truck actually has that installed.

Unless that has 5 foot tires that is by no means 7 feet of water
@TerraFirmaX3 жыл бұрын
the tires are 54" so maybe closer to 6' deep but still impressive.
@komander25342 жыл бұрын
@@TerraFirmaX 54 inches is 4.5 feet
@TerraFirmaX2 жыл бұрын
@@komander2534 I know 54” is 4’6”. I was saying the water was probably 6 foot deep.

WOW maybe in my younger days, but now all I see are months of electrical issues running around that truck not to mention the 5 hours of Maintenance you have in front of you changing out all your lubricants, No now that I think about it I would not have done this even when I was younger!
@ballardstowingandoffroadre23674 жыл бұрын
These are pretty much water tight !! No real fluids to change unless you have a bad gasket somewhere !! I haven't had to change anything in 7 years except routine oil changes !
@karlk68604 жыл бұрын
@@ballardstowingandoffroadre2367 Dan I have an M925A1 what about the differential vents, they are designed to be in water for a short amount of time and generally with some forward momentum to help keep the vent clear of water, I know this is covered in your TM you may want to take a glance at it, darned nice truck it would be ashamed to have a differential problem develop!
@ballardstowingandoffroadre23674 жыл бұрын
@@karlk6860 I added lines to all my "Vents" that run the height of the cab Roof Here in Florida, You run in LOTS of water if your out Trailing off-road. So, With a little "Mod" of the vent tunes/lines, You can prevent water intrusion ! I also have a "89 International S1800 4x4 that I'm finishing up right now that ive did the same to !! I'll be able to Cross/Drive in 4/5 foot of water without worrying about water intrusion in anything that would hurt the truck ! The "Mechanical " DT466 and old school Allison Tranny does great even after MANY years of abuse/torture ! My buddy has a old Duece that sat stuck in a DEEP mud/water hole for 4 days until I could get there to winch him out, And after that we checked(drained and reused) ALL the fluids, ALL were water free !! . Only things that will allow Water intrusion is, A bad gasket or seal !! Been building trucks and Offroading for 30+ years !! I've learned to maintain all my toys !! . It CAN be done !!

@@ballardstowingandoffroadre2367 Dan you have my compliments and I am sorry to say I am so used to dealing with people who have no clue about what driving through deep water can and will do to their vehicles it sounds like you know what your talking about and have taken smart measures to eliminate these weak points. Your story of the Deuce is amazing obviously your using some quality products in your modifications! Where I live we have a lot of water in the Spring then we have mud for about 2 weeks then its dry till it snows again. I have a few trucks both American and German and last July my Father passed away and I did not get to do anything with any of my trucks, I was over getting a boat out of my warehouse and my 5 ton was sitting there hadnt been started in two years and I had to give it a try Dan and she fired up at about the 8 second point of cranking, BOY it sounded good to hear the old 855 again! I have a M977 HEMTT that I need to pull the radiator on this Spring its leaking between the core and the lower tank, and I have and M37 and Probably one of the nicest Deuces in the Midwest and an M920 Met semi tractor that I am selling this year the 920 was a 100% overhaul and paint inside and out when I bought it then I changed the tires and wheels over to HEMTT wheels and 1600x20 HEMTT tires it took me a bit to figure out how to balance those tires but got it done now it will cruise in 16th gear smooth as silk! Take good care Dan And I look forward to seeing more videos
