I'm an old guy who also just started to pick playing drums after a nearly 50 year absence. Its fun and frustrating because wztchi g your Vids and others serve to remind the beginner or the new biginner that it takes Practice, Practice, and Practice. Keep up the great Vids. Unfortunately, arthritis in my hands do cause limitations but also simultaneous satisfaction when you get the beat right !!!

Hey Gabe, when did you get a Q kit., and which Vic Firth stick do you use? I've been using the Benny Greb since June of 2017 along with the 5B, and the 5A for about 20 yrs. before that. I love your videos and the way you teach. The drumming world is fortunate to have you. God Bless You, Gabe!!!

Hi Gabe, cool lesson, thanks for sharing. I liked all the ideas, but I especially liked the displacement idea. I took the liberty of writing out all the other displacement combinations for this sticking pattern. RLLK LRLL (The original pattern). LLKL RLLR (displacing the first note of the previous pattern to the end of the new pattern). LKLR LLRL KLRL LRLL LRLL RLLK RLLR LLKL LLRL LKLR LRLL KLRL So if you take all those different voicing ideas you showed us in the original pattern and apply them to all the 8 displacement patterns, you have quite a good set of exercises. Thanks again.

@codersexpo15804 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the lesson! Awesome sticking pattern. Love the things you can do with this one. I would like to add ONE more trick, sticking with the 16th notes only, you can do 'drop outs'. That is, omit a beat hear and there. The ears get used to hearing the pattern and when you drop out a beat or two or three...It makes the listener do a double take. ;-) Wonderful as usual Gabe and Thank You!
