DISCLAIMER: Before you go blowing up my comment section, I do not support cheating. I personally never used "stick em" to pitch. Nor do I recommend it. However, this is part of the game, and there are many guys who use foreign substances illegally, whether we like it or not. This was just a fun video to show some ways premium grip products are used in pro baseball. Please leave a comment down below and let me know what type of video you'd like to see next!

YouGoProBaseball I’ve never understood why you can have a rosin bag sitting out in the open but if you use pine tar all of a sudden you’re cheating. Honestly, as a hitter, if there’s a guy on the hill going 98 or so, he can have whatever he wants to make sure it doesn’t slip out of his hands.

Hey Coach! I mean, hey John, sorry, that's an amazing video. Good sense of humor. Great tips! When it comes to naivety and baseball, I will share a funk y story. As you know, there was no drafting in the Dominican; kids got signed after their age was doctored and that's it. Back in the days, 99.9 percent of Dominican players had their age doctored, so they could be younger on paper. For example, when I was running around naked in the country, I used to watch Sammy Sosa playing for El Escogido on TV and Felipe Alou was the team's manager. Please, don't think we are perverts down in the DR; "running around naked" means very little, maybe 8 or 10 years old, because while young girls are covered, young boys do run around on their birthday suits. Last year, I heard that Sammy was celebrating his 50th birthday. So this means that when I used to watch him on TV playing he was around 7 years old because I am 51 lol. Sammy's age is as fake as his skin; now he's a white man. Another one who had his age doctored big time was my buddy Jose Lima, RIP. A friend who was paid the most amount of money back in the days in Puerto Plata, was Bernardino Núñez, aka Nino Núñez; he got almost 10 thousands from Toronto. Today, they pay millions. It's about time. Some of my friends were paid $300 signing bonus, as in three times one hundred or 3x100 lol. When Nino traveled to the USA for the first time to play ball, when he came back he was a changed man. They all adopt ways to impress the locals, for the most part. He would put these big chunks of something in his mouth. Well...that looked kind of cool. So, I asked him to give me some. He kind of chuckled and gave me a bit. I didn't ask him the purpose of it, how to chew it or where to place it in my mouth. What did I do? I put it near my throat, moved it around, savoured it, and swallowed. I thought the damn thing was chocolate, but it was chewing tobacco spit. All I remember was waking up at the hospital drunk and throwing up. Going back to the age thing, I remember watching Jose Cano (Robinson Cano's father) pitching to Cano a few years ago during a homerun derby. When the commentator said that Jose was 49, I was laughing so hard. To their credit they did say that he looked older. Apparently, he is 56 now. Only 5 years older than me? What does age doctoring has to do with your great video, John? Nothing, sorry, I digressed. I just wanted to share my chewing tobacco story, like when you called your coach "Coach". By the way, John, I also like my women thicker than a bowl of oatmeal, too, lol Gracias por el video Cuidate amigo Sanchez

@@YouGoPro you welcome! If I would've had access to the stuff you produce, today, back in the day, and I would have a lot more than 16 stitches in my lips and 4 broken teeth. I was a catcher. I called for a pitch out, one day playing Summer League, was waiting for the ball outside, but the pitcher threw inside. I went back to receive the pitch, batter swings, foul tip, the ball extracted 4 of my teeth. Why? I flipped my mask off when I called the pitch out, which I wasn't supposed to do: take the mask off that is lol. Keep up the good work John.

Is there something else beside the scrapper to remove pine tar from a bat? I have a bat that the grip is solid of pine tar used as a grip? I used a putty knife to get some off, then I had to use a razor blade scrapper, still not coming off. What a sticky mess. I am 65 and I am donating the bats I found but trying to clean them up a bit. HELP. When I was playing ball for 20 years I never used the stuff, I just hit the shit out of the ball. I ended up Semi-pro but when it wasn't fun anymore I didn't want to play.

That "tar" is not actual tar but some sort petrochemical byproduct, since it is black. Real tar is light brown and you are supposed to see through it. However it doesn't really matter in this application.

Little League requires tape on the handle of wood bats. What's better! Why don't big leagues use tape? I know Little League requires it so bats don't slip out of hitters hands. Do you know why they don't just use pine tar?
