There is the untrustworthy one who is judging, will spread stories about embellishing the stupid shit that happened, and encourages drunk people to do dangerous stuff for their own amusement and the trustworthy one who will do just as much fun stupid stuff sober, keeps everyone's drunk secrets, but they'll make sure people don't do something actually dangerous like driving when well beyond or going home with someone they'll know you will regret and stopping drunk fights by being a master distractor -- often with the best snacks/weed/whatever.
