A mentor of once said that when he dies he will go to heaven. When I heard that a thought came to my mind. However, a friend of mine who was there voiced out loud what I was thinking. "You can't say that because only God can make that judgement." But my mentor said, "Yes, I can say that! I have every right to say that!" He turned to 1 John 5:11-12. He said that I had to sincerely accept Jesus as my Savior with my whole heart. Then he turned to Ephesians 2:8-9. Then he said that it doesn't matter how good a person you are if you haven't accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, you won't get to heaven. That night I gave my life to Jesus. Those are my two favorite Bible passages because they helped me get my salvation.

I just returned to Christianity 8 days ago after being absent for about 15 years. I went for a walk and decided it was time to start talking to God again, when I got home I asked God to show me what I need to see and I opened to a random page of the Bible, the first thing I saw is Isaiah 1:18 “No matter how deep the stain of your sins, I can remove it. I can make you as clean as freshly fallen snow” if you’re where I was at a week ago and you’ve been thinking about coming back to faith I want you to know it is never too late to give your life back to God, he still loved you even when you walked away. I am not suddenly a saint now, but I can feel God helping me win my battles and overcome the darkness I have been fighting.

I would say that the verse that has heavily impacted me during a significant period in my walk with God is Psalm 34:18: “The Lord is near to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” This verse still helps me to remember that when I feel like I have hit rock bottom emotionally, that is a time when I am closest to God. He may allow for me to feel sad for a time, but not for forever. It reminds me that I can go to Him with everything that brings me sadness and that I am not a burden to Him.

Deuteronomy 29:29, "The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things that are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law." I was a pastoral min student in college when a professor brought this verse up in class to answer a question. There are questions we may have that are unanswered about God, the earth, and the Bible; like who wrote Hebrews? ;) This gave me a greater peace that I do not have to have all the answers and can live with that tension even while serving the Lord and what is known about Him through His Word. We will never know everything and have all the answers, but we can trust our omniscient, all-wise God.

Our God indeed is a covenant keeping God. Has he said a thing and not perform it? I watch how things unfold in my life, from penury to $155,000 every three months and I can only praise him and trust him more. Hallelujah

Galatians 2:20. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by the faith in the son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me (NIV)

Brother Allen, I must admit my jaw dropped at the first verse you mentioned in Habakkuk. It is one of my favorite books in the Bible and that is honestly my life verse. It just so happens, I also preached my very first sermon, just last month to my church congregation on that verse.

To God be the glory! I have been tremendously blessed by your teaching. Romans 8:38-39(ESV) For I am sure you that neither death nor life, neither angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hosea 2:15 NIV: "There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt." This verse is special to me, because while reading Hosea, I felt like that even though God is loving, He could never forgive me my sins from the past. But then this verse stuck me. That I have hope. My misery will be turned into joy. In my youth, I had true faith, faith that children have and I want to believe like that again. Thank you for this channel, it helped me a lot in my journey! 🤍

I've always loved Habakkuk 3:17-18. I turn to it when I feel my world has fallen apart. I actually affiliate that passage with the song "Even If" by Kutless.
