I think shino is my favorite underrated character. Dude it litterally a genius like shikamaru. He's always thinking steps ahead of his opponents and creating openings and strategies mid battle and covering himself when something goes wrong. Take his fight in the chunin exams for instance he made zakus arm fucking explode off his body because he was being cautious.

Sasori also has a really sad backstory. The way he created puppets of his parents because grams told him they were on missions instead of the truth was heartbreaking. I think he definitely should get more credit in the thought put into his character. I mean we hardly get any backstory on some other members of the Akatsuki, yet they get a lot more love.

Shino: underrated analytical abilities, practically never loses, pretty much auto-wins fights from a distance before they even start, provides chakra sensing, scouting, and tracking abilities. Insane that they didn't promote him to chunin right away, but the writers seemed to prefer shock factor by giving the only promotion to the smartest, weakest candidate. Sai: can attack from the sky like Deidara, bind enemies in ink snakes for interrogation, use ink rats for scouting purposes, use ink beasts to carry messages back to the village while on missions, and provides sealing abilities. Aoba: one of the only intel shinobi who leaves the village on missions. If you want to form a team that has access to Psycho Mind Transmission, he's one of very few options. Torune: like shino, but also uses barrier jutsu, has great kenjutsu, and various unique insect abilities. Fu: like Ino, but has radically better chakra sensing, more genjutsu, and great kenjutsu. Now go forth, and assemble teams that have mostly these characters.

Tsunade I thought had a very well-written character arc/background story: one of the Sannin, a legendary kunoichi, a pioneer in medical ninjutsu, who later gives up being a ninja after having hemophobia/PTSD due to the loss of her loved ones, but later she overcomes her trauma and accepts the Hokage position when prior to that she ridiculed it, saying it was nothing but a "fool's job." Out of all the female characters, I thought she had the best writing. (Then again, that's not exactly saying much, since a lot of the female characters always get the short end of the stick in that aspect. Another is that all of that development occurred in her introductory arc.) Her gambling and alcohol addictions, plus her volatile temper, also made for some entertaining scenes. On top of that, she's pretty badass, too.

I think Gaara is super underrated, not for his strength or usefulness in a fight because most of the time his sand is responsible for all of that, but I don't think I've ever seen a better character transformation than Gaara. He went from being easily one of the most hatable and edgy characters there has ever been to becoming probably one of best and most likable characters in Naruto and it all happened smoothly in ways that made sense and didn't feel rushed, unlike Sasuke who just decides he wanted to become hokage like 10 minutes before jumping into the ninja war. I REALLY wish they went further in depth with Gaara after he became kazekage. *edit:* I also really wanna add in Rock Lee just for having perhaps the hypest moment in naruto, which just happened to be in his fight against Gaara, when he dropped his leg weights. Rock Lee will always be underrated just for that moment alone to me.

In the manga the "sewing needle" sword user and the "helmet splitting" user are later shown to be in Zabuza's generation of the 7 swordsmen along with Fuguki(fat dude) so they obviously all lived. Than Boruto made Raiga canon and he had to have been alive to have his kid later. So really, might dai only really put down 3/7 or 2/7 if you count the the filler character Juzo who is unnamed in the manga.

I want to say a few reasons/interesting facts about Sasori, one of my favorite anime characters and extremely underrated: -They called him Sasori of the Red Sand because the sand turned red from the blood of his victims. -He hates waiting because he always waited for his parents yet they never came back. -When he revealed his face I fell in love then and there. -He was a good person the last instants of his life, helping Sakura and the others. -He died in his parents’ arms, happily. -He died intentionally, he chose to rest even though he could have beaten Sakura and Chiyo. -He went through hell and didn’t deserve it. All the killing... he just needed his parents. He just needed love, and unlike Gaara, he never received it. -“My man” and always my man.

I think Deidara gets a huge bum wrap among those who love Naruto. They find him irritating and we're happy to see him die. I, on the other hand, have Deidara as my number one favorite fictional character of all time in everything I have watched or read. I find his personality being a chaotic type of fun that you would find in Mythbusters when something was blown up like Adam Savage's eyebrow. He also has a cunning, intelligent side that people disregard due to his eccentricity and love for fleeting art. He managed to trick Sasuke twice, dodged Team Kakashi and Team Gai with clever clay substitutions, managed to sneak into the Hidden Sand and was only spotted by Gaara at first, snunk up on two highly trained Konoha Anbu, and I am probably missing a few other examples. On top of that, the guy could fight with no arms just like Zabuza! That was freaking cool. And oddly enough, parts of his back story are almost mirror images of Naruto's (the two most prominent being that both want respect and stole a kinjutsu). He was overall a very fun character and one I would like to learn more about. As for your choices: Dosu: Have no idea of how to feel about him. He had so little screen time. Tsunade: I agree, Tsunade is a badass healer. I actually like her and Jiraiya over Orochimaru. Orochimaru is not a bad character, he is just... Creepy... Tsunade definitely had amazing character growth in her arc. Iruka: We owe a lot to this guy. He saved Naruto from the dark path Mizuki was going to put him on. He was also a great big brother/father figure for Naruto and his makeshift family. Haku: Am I the only one who did not fall for the trap and knew Haku was a boy? This kid's story was super sad all the way to the end. He just wanted to be cared about. Sasori: The guy is cool, despite being defeated by Chiyo and Sakura. He also had a sad story that is all too common in war times in real life. I will say that I like Deidara more once again.

C Vox Sakura didn’t surpass Tsunade. Kish wanted to get across she did but didn’t show it at all. Sakura enhances her fist with chakra whereas Tsunade is naturally strong. Tsunade has her con background and etc. Sakura has none. Tsunade has the lightening technique which messes up ur nervous system. Sakura does not. Tsunade can one touch heal (I think). Bruh Sakura is overrated and a garbage character. 100 healings only worked for Tsunade cause she was 1) Hashirama's descendant, 2) Senju blood member, and 3) Uzimaki Blood member(her grandmother). It is questionable wether Naruto could have dodged and also if he could've tanked it at that point. Was the kyuubi part of the Juubi by then? And in the end, she almost lost to Sakura. It's almost a little upsetting to read these comments and see so few people mentioning Dosu even after Swag talked about him. I agree with you 100% on Dosu. He was my absolute favourite character, and this was actually the first thing from Naruto that pissed me off, and it was the first of many characters who suffered the problem with the series: characters are made out to be incredibly powerful/significant only to later on become unimportant fodder. Dosu had so much potential to be a shinobi significant and effective shinobi in the future of the series. I believe his intelligence was at least on par with Kakashi's (relative to age) but closer to Shikamaru's IMO.

I agree with everything you said! I was disappointed to see him gone so soon. Dosu fought smart and was really clever about his abilities too but just to show of how powerful Gaara was before the latter's fight with Sasuke, Kishimoto had to go and murder him. He really got the Kakuzu-"lets-murder-this-guy-to-show-someone-else's-awesomeness" treatment.

@@MikesOblvionPlane Mhm, I've always enjoyed more quiet, intelligent characters in anime. I guess the quiet, inner monologueing that they do just resonates with me. It's always fascinating to hear them think through the situation they're in and all the sorts of plans they'll come up with. Of course, they can also end up being really boring if not done right and it's maybe for this reason that manga creators are scared off from making these sorts of characters very often.

Yamato is also heavily underrated, i think he is such a great and fun character and another mentor of Narutos. The interactions with him and Naruto are actually pretty funny and he is actually a cool ninja with wood release.
