A lot of parents I know of are missing the freedom they previously had especially in the infant stage, so I want to say your case is rather unique because most moms very often want to have a little bit of that carefree life back. Especially at 20 when most of your friends will be traveling, partying, wining and dining on regular basis and you are now limited as a parent. So for anyone wondering if they are a bad mom for feeling different you are not it's very normal to have a hard adjustment to the first years and wanting the freedom of your life back.

My mum suffered a lot of bullying and being put down by "breast is best" preachers after not being able to breastfeed, but now I'm really glad she didn't have to experience all of this excruciating pain and suffering. If you can't breastfeed, please don't worry- I turned out just fine.

j sizzle yeah my mum didn’t breast feed because she wanted to be able to leave me with other family members so she could work. I turned out fine I guess haha

Thank you for this. What hit home with me is the worry that I won’t be able to bond with my baby or that I’ll get annoyed by the crying, as opposed to letting my instincts drive me. Currently 36+5, both excited and very nervous lol

Thanks for sharing this information.I am 2.5 weeks Postpartum and experienced similar pains with breastfeeding...pain started around day 10. It was soon after that i bought an electric breast pump and ever since have been exclusively feeding her expressed breast milk. Best decision for me and bub...she gets 100%breast milk and i get no more pain!!I also agree with the parenting styles and advice receiving....learning every single day!!! Really loving your Vlogs! X

I had most of these fears. I had my first baby at 20 via emergency c section also! I had the instant connection though. my son was a rainbow baby. so I feel like that helped with him. I cried soo hard when I saw him and finally got to hold him 3 hours after birth. soo amazing!

Ash Jackson you're welcome. yes it is!my baby is 10 months and I can hardly believe it! I so related to the advice thing. I have been trying to hold back and wait for ppl to ask me for my advice or opinions.idk if this is an American thing or not,but when I was pregnant everyone made parenting sound like a nightmare! when it really isn't.
@AshJackson7 жыл бұрын
It goes too too quick doesn't it!! And yes! I remember that well! Everyone kept talking about how they had no time to themselves and how they haven't slept properly in years... nobody seems to mention that its not that bad, you do it willingly and its totally worth it
@ladybocknite51207 жыл бұрын
it does! I want to be in denial,but I can't unfortunately. omg yes! I don't mind it. I try to be honest,but positive to others when they ask about parenting. I let them know that there are bad days,but there are soo many good days too. you also make your own nightmare or your own happy life.

I love your points. I have watched so many of these videos but I feel like your outlook is so different and I appreciate it thank you!
@mollywright79217 жыл бұрын
I totally relate to some of these points and I loved that you talked about some things people wouldn't usually, like not feeling like a mother at the start. I had my girl a month before my 21st birthday, emergency c-section and i lived in a regional town so she ended up having to be flown to a city 5 hours away from me to a neo natal unit. I didn't even get to see her until several hours later when she was rushed passed me on her way to the helicopter, they wouldn't let me go to see her until 2 days later. She was then in the intensive care part of NICU so i didn't even get to hold her until she was 10 days old. I suffered a little bit of PND because of this and was constantly worried that because I didn't get to hold her straight away that I didn't have this bond that every other mother had with their child.
@AshJackson7 жыл бұрын
Oh my goodness I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that! Its not fair for a mother to carry her child for so long only to not be able to hold them once they're born. I don't blame you for suffering PND as a result. How are things coming along now lovely??
@mollywright79217 жыл бұрын
Ash Jackson It is what it is hey. things are fantastic now, my little girl just turned 2, she is sick a lot and is prone to febrile convulsions every time she spikes a fever but that is something she will grow out of. Other than that she is happy and healthy and that's all you can hope for i suppose :)

My baby is 13 mo and I sometimes still feel weird about being a mom. She was planned and I was 26 when I gave birth. I don't think it's an age thing. It's just bizarre, you're you and then you're still you, but you're also a mom; takes a lot to wrap my mind around it. Breastfeeding, there simply is no preparation for it! The first 6 weeks were simply hell for me and no one tells you it's going to be this hard, many 3 am meltdowns occurred in those first weeks. How you think you'll parent and then how you actually parent are oftentimes worlds apart, as you said, you meet your child and respond to their needs and personalities. I still struggle filtering opinions and "advice." Loved the video! 💕

I have a bit of an odd concern about my future kids: My family looks the exact opposite of my husband's. Everyone in my family is very tall, thin, blonde hair, blue eyes, with very sharp facial features. My husband's family on the other hand are all very short, curvy/heavy set, black hair, brown eyes, and very soft features. I'm worried that because all of the traits from my family are recessive and his are dominant that my kids won't look anything like me. I know that that is the definition of superficial, but I can't help but want my kids to resemble me. Does that make me a bad mom to be?

Hi Ash and thanks for your videos!! I'm pregnant and I'm completely terrified! Every doctor I went wants to do an episiotomy to me and I'm afraid my vagina will be destroyed forever!! Also about breastfeeding, I have read that it is not supposed to hurt if you are doing it right! Why did it hurt for you ,and why did it stop hurting afterwards? You did something different? Did you use nipple shields?

I was wondering why moms would say that breastfeeding hurt, so i looked up "how-to" videos. I found a heath worker training video series to help mothers know the correct and painless (or less painful--for better words)way to help babies latch on and get more milk. It was very educational. (I am neither a mom or pregnant yet)

I am not a mother yet but I am curious about one thing... say you dont like your in laws or something, and your baby looks like your husbands side of the family, does that make the mom feel less bonded to the baby, or is it that no matter what he or she looks like you genuinely dont care? It sounds superficial, i know
@AshJackson7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure I can't say I've been in that position to be able to understand what it would be like sorry! I think a mother loves her child regardless

One thing I’m terrified of is resenting my baby. By the time I give birth I’ll be 21 but this journey so far is overwhelming. I want to breastfeed because ‘breast is best’ but I’m scared I won’t be able too 😞. Ughh

i had my daughter 5 years ago and breastfeeding was extremely painful, i only managed 2 days of it while in hospital. i had the nurses come in a 'milk' me to at least give her colostrum and when i did have her on the boob it caused cracked bleeding nipples. I was in pain down below from giving birth to a 9lb 4oz baby drug free and tearing that i couldnt handle the pain of breast feeding as well. Before she was born i was determined to breastfeed but it just didnt work out. I hope with my next one i will be able to breastfeed a bit longer
