Hi, Max! Very good lesson. Can you say something about the level of English when you, say, understand, 100 %, audiobook(something by Dickens for example) and not using a text version of the book to prepare before you listen. I am a book lover and I want to enjoy audiobooks in English as I enjoy audiobooks in my native Russian language. Is it possible without using a text of the book in a foreign language? Thank you.
@EnglishwithMax5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Regarding books, if you understand 100% of a Dickens audiobook, it means that your English comprehension is as good as (or even better than) a native speaker's. 😀Anything that was written before the 20th century, or even maybe before the 1940s, will likely be more difficult than modern fiction because of the old-fashioned language. I'd recommend starting with more modern books, or even podcasts. But don't get discouraged! With time, plenty of people are able to improve their vocabulary and comprehension so that it's as good as (or almost as good as) in their native language.
@ViacheslavKr5 жыл бұрын
@@EnglishwithMax Hi, Max! Thank you for your answer. It is a pleasure for me to watch your lessons. English is my hobby now but it is much much more than a hobby. I hope so. And one more question. Is it important to choose the accent of an audiobook? With love from Russia. Ch.
@EnglishwithMax5 жыл бұрын
No, accent is a matter of preference. :) If, for example, you want to mainly speak British English, then it would make sense to mainly listen to British accents. But no matter which type of English you want to concentrate on, it's good to get used to a range of accents. Thank you for your kind words!

Hi,Max. How`ve u been up to?) Well, actually, I wanna bring up another expression from 'here u go, here u are' family. It seems to me that it is the same. Please correct me if I`m wrong. So, how about 'here it is'? Penny for your thoughts, pls.
@EnglishwithMax5 жыл бұрын
Hi! Good question! "Here it is" is similar, but we normally use it when we find something we've been looking for, or if we give something to someone that they've been looking for or requested. So sometimes you can use it interchangeably with the ones in the video, and sometimes not. :) (Btw, we either say: "How've you been?" or "What've you been up to?" 😉)
