It´s only because people don´t know, how to react against such disarming and obvious lie. The proper reaction should be: "Sarcasm (or irony, depending on what was used and you should recognize them properly, otherwise you will be humiliated further) isn´t humor." Once you name properly his actions in front of others, HE will be disarmed. But unless you don´t care about his narcissistic injury, be wary of using it in inner family circle.

That one was used on me quite a bit as well. I learned to say " no you meant exactly what you said" After that he quit doing that one. I told him it was not a joke it was the truth of how he felt. I was not stupid I knew exactly what he was doing....guess I know now why I am the ex.

I have one incident that never goes away. When I was all ready to go to a wedding and about to get in the car, my neighbor said “wow you look good Christine” and my ex narcissist said “ya for once” and then when I told him he hurt my feelings he said to get over it, it was a joke. It actually ruined the wedding for me, and he knew it would.

They do that so you don't look good to others. That way the smear campaigns will run by itself just dropping insinuations.

The art of the comeback is something everyone should learn. The real game is to make your biting sarcasm wittier than the initial dig (but with the sort of polite honesty that demands reflection from the listener). It's taken from the time honoured school-yard adage, "He who cannot take it should not dish it.". 😅

They often say the rudest things to people in the name of a joke and feel powerful for cleverly devising a strategy to abuse people while appearing innocent. 1. They say mean things, and then add "just kidding" 2. They interrupt you and derail conversations when you are making an important point about something. 3. Make up excuses and leave when the spotlight is not on them. 4. They crack jokes and invalidate you when you are addressing important concerns. 5. They are dismissive of your ideas, passions and use jokes to demotivate you. "Ha ha you could never pass the exams. Why did you even enroll? Ha ha. Come on, you are not that good. Do you think you can actually start a business? Ha ha" 6. They get triggered when you offer compliments to someone other than them and crack jokes to devalue the individual being praised. "Losers praising each other lol" 7. When you achieve something, they offer a backhanded compliment. "How long did you practice this? Did your Mom force you to study hard?" 8. When you offer great suggestions, they say "did you come up with it on your own? Or where in Google did you find this?"

"I'm sick of people saying..." or whatever...when they mean you. Usually only me and the narcissist are the only 'people' in the room. Ok. Why couldn't the narcissist just say directly referring to me by name or as you? Strange. And wow, talk about avoiding...crazy! But yes, a lot is revealed. Ty for this video. 😉👍♥️

The guy dated shortly after the narcissist would degrade my body and then say, "I was joking." He would say that his narcissistic ex girlfriend could take his jokes but I can't. He had narcissistic behavior. He even tried to change how I dress and style my hair and we only met a few months. I'm we are done. I was not well. He was hilarious because had some nerve to say the things he said because his ex spent all his money and his house was falling apart.

I bet his ex is not a narcissist. He's triangulating you with her. It's not the ex fault he's still using her to make you compete with her. Her ex is not a narcissist; he is a narcissist.

Danish, when referring to the narcissist's humor, you may want to put the word "humor" in quotation marks, as these snakes have zero ability to be humorous. Their jokes and "humorous" expressions always fall flat, leaving others feeling confused and creeped out. No, narcs are humorless, as they lack authenticity and a genuine personality.

Danish Basir - you have great insight into how these peoples minds work, and say it so eloquently. Your perfectly right when you say "Ambiguous humour gives an easy escape route from being confronted about the real meaning behind the words and always claiming the comment was meant as a joke or that they were just misunderstood and can be used as predetory information to be used as a tool for future manipulation. " Which is precisely what I experienced with a close relative couple of days ago. I was flabergasted, and didnt know how to respond because of the ambiguouty, yet I knew they were testing my reactions. and I knew what they said was completely wrong and sadly abusive in a subtle way..

Narcs will never allow their target to have their own sense of humor. And even if they do, the target's humor will later be used against them by the narc. Been there!
@CrankyBarista
@CrankyBarista 4 ай бұрын
Or they will steal your jokes and use them as their own. My ex narc would pretend my jokes weren't funny, and then use them later to other people right in front of me. Then, when I would point out I made that joke, he somehow would make me look like I was being jealous.

One of the very few videos on the channel I disagree with. I have very, very rarely ever seen any narcissists use 'self depreciating' humour; even doing it as a 'joke' does too much harm to their perfect self image; they'll make tons of humour and depreciating comments to others constantly, but themselves? Not hardly ever. It immediately takes them out of the 'power' position. They want everything to be flawless.

Yes this is true, Narasstic think they are being funny, i.e my ex husband thought it was funny to make fun of my mother, when she was asking my father for help with a meal she was cooking, and imitating her voice despite her being deceased for nearly 26 years and it's not funny in fact it is contemp.

Dude, this description would also label as a narcissist, every truly kind, good and caring person who also happen to be a mischievous prankster and jokester. Hell, this description would apply to 85% of military veterans. Put on a helmet and toughen up. (btw...very happily married 35 yrs to the world's most awesome wife w/5 children).
