Another simple tip is to work on the bass after you've come up with melodies, counters and drums. Not always the best, but I find it a lot easier.

Great vid! Building groovy basslines is so essential, but I'm always struggling with it. I hope your techniques will help me a bit in the process.

I think there are too many notes on the bass. As the frequencies go lower, the human ear perceives them more as energy rather than distinct notes. This can confuse the listener if there are too many notes in the sub-bass range. It's better to simplify the bass line as the frequencies drop. This way, you create a groove that makes people dance rather than confusing them with excessive low-frequency information. Peace!

this is just an example to explain the 5 key parts of this video. Also the amount of notes is very genre dependent too!

For me also too much notes from point of view clubs' speakers performance. Sub-woofers can't manage so much low frequencies at same time.

quite a basic lesson, I think anyone with a bit of music background will naturally understand this. Also sometimes less is more
@brendanjamesmusic22 күн бұрын
true! you can do all the fancy techniques/ lessons in the world but if you cant get the basics right it will never work. yeah less is more is point number 4 buddy.

Where do you get your packs? Specifically for 909's and those SH kicks
@brendanjamesmusic21 күн бұрын
I believe the SH ones are from sample from mars! they have great packs containing high quality 909/ original drum sounds
