I think you mean selling rabbit pelts, not pellets (food). :) I am LOVING your channel. I think I might be about a year away from getting rabbits, but hopefully we can work it out faster. You are providing such great information!

And then you have that doe who is an excellent mama, but she only gives you two MASSIVE kits per litter. Dunno what happened there. Her personality is also MUCH sweeter when she has kits.

Bwahahaha well maybe the fur itself can be shaved and used for something without taking the skin, but I'm not sure. Perhaps it can be used as stuffing or fed into a spinner for yarn.

How do i for nd out the laws and logistics of getting into raising rabbits for meat? Would it make me a farmer? Do i need my home to be in a specific zoning? I live in Ontario Canada and have absolutely no idea how to start.

I would call up your town and talk to them around regulations but most towns don’t seem to mind people raising rabbits

I spend 230. A week for my bunnies food a week how can I make it less expenses
@splitarrowfarm2 жыл бұрын
Wow that is a good chunk of change, how many rabbits do you currently have and what are you purchasing for them per week? As a first step, since food and hay are most likely the two larger items, I would look to see if there is a way to cut down on your cost. Are you able to buy in bulk? Grow your own food? Create your own food mixes? Or potentially doing a feed share with a farm nearby?

Use rabbit tractors. 2x1 wire All around, including the bottom so they can't get out. Set them on chemical free grass. They will gladly 'mow' your lawn for you. Just be sure to move them at least once per day. For more information, look up 'Pasture Raised Rabbits' by Joe Salitan here on YT. Hope this helps and good luck!

Could you list the Facebook groups to sell the rabbits as pets please.
@splitarrowfarm Жыл бұрын
We joined all local groups. Try searching homesteader and rabbit groups in your area. Craigslist is also a great place to head to as well! And make sure to take good photos, that will help the most :) best of luck!

You said the mothers always raise their offspring? Why the heck so I keep reading a first time mother usually won't raise the litter. Please reply
@splitarrowfarm2 жыл бұрын
Really? It can be dependent on their mom. Before getting a rabbit I would make sure that their mom was a good mom and made a good nest and kept her kits. Usually it will help teach the kits to be good moms but you never really know. We have had 3 great moms and one that was not as great.

I do the same, I take all poop, from all of our 30 rabbits, pigs, and goats, and keep it in a big area. When I do the garden, I let the pigs till, and get roots, when it's time to get the next step, peacocks, chickens, and more do the next step. After I check it all, if I need anyone to go back through they do. Then I do my garden. I also use the poop for the grass to regrow in areas, from certain animals.

How can you sell those cute souls for their meat??
@splitarrowfarm2 жыл бұрын
The cute factor is a lot! But it depends what everyone’s goals are
@Heather-xm9ul2 жыл бұрын
Have you tried cutting their nails? Cleaning the cage of a pregnant doe? The cute factor goes away after they make you look like a scratching post, or like you rolled through a prickly pear patch. At that point, it's all about their personality.
@slrs3908 Жыл бұрын
People have souls, not animals. Rabbits are awesome animals, but they are first of all prey animals intended to sustain other animals. That is their purpose whether tame or wild. Also consider their claws are sharper than a cat...and they can use them!

No your just not in reality, the truth is without people like this the rabbits would never be born in the first place here rabbits are producing offspring which is their natural goal. Rabbits in the wild only 30% make it through any winter and 10% into adulthood.
