Rabbit pelts go for 15 to 20 depending upon the size, color, and quality here in Oregon. Part of the draw for people is doing a all natural tanning practice. My kid processes and sells at crafter markets.

Where fortunate in Australia if u sell pure but no petigry they sell fairly easily as we don't have the numbers here. I have 60 rabbits and they are worth more than a 5$ pelt or low fat meat. You can fertilize your entire yard, garden and *cannabis, compost, worm farm, inoculant/tea feeds, quick and amazing for cooking biochar .. all that just w their poop and bedding. Soil Amendments are expensive, rabbit manure is a consistent product that literally mounds up in no time

Two were EVIL (in highschool) and my current Rex is just not that friendly (he comes up to me within an arms length but won't let me pet him). My NZ girl always wants pets and comes running down the coop when she hears me come inside hahaha.

I have a rex buck who is like that. He comes running for the food, but is pretty peeved if I'm there to groom. He nips, but usually when I'm too slow, in his opinion. The does that I got for him are far more accepting of physical contact and being turned over for nail trims

Bought my wife a nice Chinchilla rex coat for $300 and I was amazed by the quality. I'm not "iffy" about rabbits in the same way I am with cats and dogs because they've been a meat animal to me since I was a kid. I wouldn't mind rearing some for fur.

Got myself a English Spot. Large pelt, medium sized rabbit. Mostly white with Black markings, ears, nose and mohawk. Beautiful fur because he's a pet rabbit, free roamed inside my home and litter boxed trained with a pellet free diet. 9lbs. Let me know if you're willing to breed, that is, if your rabbits female.

This is absolutely crazy but I posted on one of your videos earlier because I was absolutely sure that I recognized some of the lawn and old trees.... I watched a bunch of your videos to make sure I wasn't crazy and I kept recognizing more and more so I looked you up on Google, My family and I grew up in your home! My parents bought the house as a 2 bedroom small house and my dad built the huge addition with the cathedral ceilings and exposed wood beam and French doors.... I lived there until I was about 22 and my parents owned it for about 30 years. I am so so so glad that the property still has animals there! We used to rescue dogs and get them back in their feet and adopted them out to families. We also had ducks and chickens running around the property. I am so glad the home and property have a wonderful family and happy animals! Do you allow visitors to come look at the bunnies? My family would love to have a bunny! Please get back to me!

But that is just amazing to me that you guys have the house I grew up in! Do you guys still have a problem with people flying off the curb And ending up in the front lawn or in the house? That was the reason for planting all the pines along the driveway and along the road😂. Anyway, I'm glad that someone doing something amazing with animals lives there! That house was built with a lot of love! You fotgot to metion making Money with Rabbit compost Tea, which is even more nutritious to plants, easy to store and transport and more expensive to sell as a concentrated extract. I save Milk Jugs and use them to store it. They are made with HDPE Plastic which is food grade and also chemical resistant. Thank for all the info in this one video.

Love your channel. I don't have rabbits yet, but I'd really like to, but to be honest, I just don't know if I can do the dispatching. That would be the hardest thing in the world to me. Also, I'm not sure I'd want to sell rabbits for pets. I would worry myself sick wondering if they've gone to good homes, etc. 😬 Maybe I'm just not really cut out to have them, but I just can't get it out of my head. It would be super useful to take your class, but I'm too far away! Would have to fly up, stay in hotel, etc. Way too expensive for me. But, love your channel, Bobby! I can understand that. But it does get easier quickly. The meat is very important to me and that's why I process my own rabbits. The same way deer hunting is important to me. My family eats a lot of venison and rabbit meat. It's a much healthier choice for your family than the chicken and steaks in the stores. The rabbit dispatching quickly turns into another farm job that you don't necessarily like but do because it has to be done. If or when you decide you aren't happy with the meat in the stores this is a great way to fill your freezer for around 1$ a pound. One Doe can produce 40lbs of meat in 12 weeks. Your breeder rabbits are the ones that are really tough because the time they spend on the property and you can't help but get to know them. Sometimes it's easier to sell them.

You kill deer and ducks, etc. His reply, "But bunnies are so cute"! So are deer!, I say. The discussion rests for another day. LOL He's 35 years old! Everyone I mention rabbit meat to has pretty much the same reaction: "I couldn't eat a bunny"! And I think to myself, you get hungry enough, you'll eat a damn armadillo! Honestly, yes those bunnies are about the cutest things on earth, but I'd still rather eat a rabbit than a lot of other things! So, man's job or not, this lady will have to do it if I end up with rabbits because I don't have access to the man whose job it is. LOL

The bottomline is that unless you can find high-value customers such as restaurants and delicatessen establishments, rearing rabbits for meat will always be borderline viable. The exception is where rabbits are raised for own consumption, where for a poor family in South Africa, it makes the difference between hardly affording chicken on the table only on Sundays vs meat casseroles or rabbit pies four times a week. Even those that successfully keep New Zealand Whites for meat production make their real profit from raising and selling breeding stock. However, the startup costs and the variable costs of keeping rabbits is not nearly the whole story. What is never justified or even accounted for is the time spent in keeping rabbits. In the case of Angora rabbits raised for fur production for weaving, it is the 30 minutes a week grooming per rabbit, the minute spent per rabbit up to four times a day and the time spent harvesting the silk through plucking that has to be factored in. My back-of-the-napkin calculation has been 35 hours spent in annual care for each fur-producing rabbit against 300-900 grams of angora silk produced - even then, it is borderline animal abuse to spend so little time with the Angoras. If making money is the objective, there are far better alternatives in terms of a profitable margin of return. If the goals are alleviating extreme poverty and creating employment through cottage industries associated with produce derived from rabbits, then keeping rabbits becomes a different proposition especially in cases where few viable alternatives exist. There are pensioners entirely reliant on a meager state grant that can now sustain themselves through spinning and weaving angora silk - keeping rabbits is not a goal in itself but a gateway to many other opportunities and therapeutic industry. Encouraging more families in South Africa to keep and produce rabbits is a viable poverty relief measure and an excellent alternative to merely another cash-handout or state grant. The basic premise will always remain that a poor family can start with only two rabbits and after only three to four months can put their first meat on the table and can do so three times a week almost indefinitely. There are multiple sources of income in keeping rabbits and most keepers do not exploit even half of the opportunities. This ranges from meat production, adding value such as baking and selling rabbit pies or casseroles on order, processing pelts and sewing cat toys, bags or miffs from pelts, harvesting rabbit silk, spinning and weaving rabbit silk, raising and selling proven breeding stock, selling rabbits for the pet trade as well as sourcing rabbit feed components in bulk and mixing your own rabbit food and marketing that to your client base or even consulting, educating, building rabbit hutches for sale or renting out bunnies for rabbit birthday parties.

Anytime you feed a rabbit greens it will soften their stool simply feed hay and pellets until things return to normal and then start with small portions of greens Be sure to feed a pellet that has 16% protein on the labeling

Hey! I hope you and yours are on fine fettle! Brilliant vids. Could I trouble you for a little advice. My Rex rabbit, (I have 2 other Dutch) - who I didn't think was old enough to have kits, and as far as I was aware, had no opportunity to breed, - has just given birth to a litter this morning. I do let them roam around, (separately), in my back yard, because I thought my segregation was good: wrong! I've got to build a nest box today; she won't use the other does box as I've heard it'll stink of another mother. I'll leave them alone for a couple of days, but I've heard I'll have to get them into a cage, for their own good. There's no way of stopping them getting out of Rex's plastic two foot domed, insulated shelter. We don't have many predators here; the main ones being cats and rats, and if I'm truthful a rat would have the Public Health, here and around, immediately. I suppose crows and seagulls could be a problem once they're in the run. I'm in a fairly built up residential area, but my yard is spacious and sealed I don't know how she'll react going from a run into a cage, so I fear they might not survive I'm in North East of England, and though we only occasionally go below minus centigrade; it is damp cold. The sea is only four miles away. This was totally unplanned. I'd really appreciate any tips on the transfer to the cage please, or do I need to bother at all? I could just block the entrance with a 6" plate/piece of wood, so they can't climb over, obviously the mother will just step over it. I've opened up her run today, so she can access the full yard, and she's going mental; running all over the place. Easy'!

Lol I've been feeding my dogs raw for a couple years. Raw really is the best, their wastes break down dramatically faster, and don't stink NEARLY as bad! Their breath doesn't stink anymore, their fur is shinier and softer, and they don't need as much dental care throughout their lives. Your dogs breath will NOT stink after she eats a rabbit.

A pedigreed rabbit comes with paperwork showing the ancestry and how you got the color some folks don't keep track of this but you can charge a premium price for your rabbit if you keep records. A Registered rabbit with the ARBA is a purebred that meets the standard of perfection for that breed. This doesn't mean it's a perfect rabbit but it clearly resembles what that breed looks like.

I had bought a rabbit that was half blind but instead of trying to sell her for meat at the far my dad let me keep her. Sadly she got out one night and I couldn't find her. I miss her but if I get one like that and someone want to buy it I would tell them first not let them find out after a few weeks.

I have I guess they're locked rabbits I'm not sure they have floppy ears or whatever and I discovered literally last night she was having babies and I had to get the mail out of there cuz he was going wild and with that being said get up this morning cuz it's been cold here in Tennessee my baby daddy told me that they were dead I don't know but I was told that these rabbits aren't very good mothers or most of them I don't know either way I don't know what to do with them my other rabbits are doing just fine though and they're different

i have show rabbits and i personally don’t agree with charging people extra for pedigrees and i don’t buy from breeders who charge extra for them. the rabbit is pedigreed and their papers come with the cost of them. also, don’t just pay for any rabbit that’s a specific breed, talk to an experienced breeder in your area to guide you on what to look for. pedigreed doesn’t mean show/breeding quality!!

That makes no sense at all. Any show rabbit that is an extremely competitive show rabbit starts at a specific price and goes up - whether it has a pedigree or not - most do. Anything that is not extremely competitive on the show table should be sold as a meat breeder without a pedigree at a meat rabbit price.

Yeah per pound. Look on Amazon and they sale it. You can definitely ask $15 a pound if it's 100% organic. I would also set a price that will move product for your area. Regarding what to sell it in. Skies the limit. Buckets, old feed sacks, fancy resealable bags. The list goes on. If you are selling by the dump truck load, pricing will be different. I actually seen a lady trying to sell 20 tons of rabbit feces. Talk to farmers, you might be able to hook up with one and he/she purchases all your product.

Yes they can. You have to do your research and try to accurately judge the Rabbitry and their character. Find out if someone you know has bought rabbits from them. How long has the Rabbitry been operating? Does the person come off a little shady when speaking to them? Look at their Farm/Rabbitry and setup do they take pride in there products/Farm/Livestock and customer service. Is there Good reviews or bad reviews. Do lots of people recommend them? Folks will get into trouble if they don’t run an honest farm/Homestead so if they’ve been operating for years chances are probably good they have quality animals and a pedigree you can trust.
