5 Ways to protect your car from thieves

I've got a solid steering wheel lock, always put it on and take it off. Don't care if it takes a few seconds to put on or take off. Disabling the keyless entry and putting this in a Faraday bag is a must.

Thieves tried to get into my car the other night. I use a Faraday pouch, placed in a box (similar to the one demonstrated in this video), and a steering lock. The thieves never made their way into the car because of the Faraday combo and an alert neighbour, who kindly raised the alarm as the thieves were attempting to duplicate the key signal.

Worth noting key fob should be with you wherever you go outside. Thieves who really want your car will follow you even at petrol stations. Always be on the lookout, terrible way to live but this is how it is now.

I’m glad I have a faraday pouch for my keys. My neighbour forgot to use his at night and his BMW was nicked last week. Three thieves with two remote key scanners at 2am. That Ghost system looks brilliant for peace of mind.

Good video, I can add a 6th way but its only good for those who have it (Race Chip). Basically the chip comes with a splitter lead and a null plug. Before Covid struck I was flying every month, so I would pull the connector from the race chip module but made it look still plugged in whilst car lived at the airport. This killed the car instantly so it could not be moved

The tracker, the most inefficient: it costs a lot of money, the thief steals the car ... you run after him, but the most interesting thing is that he can be disturbed by the thief !! ;)

The way I’d use a tracker is notify the police as soon as it alerts me the car is in motion and lead them straight to the car and the thieves. Advanced systems too allow you to disable the car too, limiting speed or even shutting down the engine completely.

Like always perfect! I will use a Apple airTag or many air tags :) I will hide them somewhere in the car…, it’s very cheap for what it can do…

Only works with when other apple products are nearby- airbags are meant for things that can’t move on their own; regardless anyone serious can get gps trackers which are pretty cost effective nowadays.

I’ve had one fitted to my C43 and I went to Unique car and audio in Lightwater, Surrey. Depends how local you are of course!

Thanks for the reply do you get some kind of official sticker then for the car window to say you’ve had ghost system fitted otherwise the crooks only know when they’ve broken in? Surrey is miles away from me i live near the east coat would be interested if there’s anyone a bit more local.

@@The96JD I suppose without the key or bypassing the keyless entry the thief wouldn’t know until they tried to take the car, but if there was a sticker maybe they would be put off in the first place maybe I’m wrong and they’d still have a go I know what the mentality is.

Mercedes Me tells you where your car is, also pops up on phone when car is moved but I am not to sure if it is easily bypassed. On another note did the crabbing ever return? I need to get these run flats off asap😃

Faraday Pouch is useless cause you are losing the idea of keyless entry. It is better to buy a Keyless Protector. It prevents stealing your car and does not kill the idea
