Ken: the song you couldn’t remember by Elvis and Willie is ‘You Were Always on my Mind.’ Great clear advice on this video; one of the best you have done. I used to get hung up on not knowing a book full of chords or strumming/finger picking styles, so what you have said has given me confidence to keep doing what I do style-wise. I’ve been through one of my infamous time gaps of not playing for a while (a couple of months after I replaced all my uke’s strings[Living Waters of course]; so I must get going again. Your encouraging timing has been spot on. Blessings, Pauline.

Hi Pauline. Wonderful! I am so glad that you have benefitted from the tutorial. I shall be going into more detail on certain aspects of this video in future lessons. Yes, never get hung up on chords. Unless you are playing something from the 30's or 40's with lots of chords (Cole Porter, Gershwin, etc), you can play nearly all folk songs, hymns, cowboy songs, pop songs, blues, etc. with just a few chords, and in the key that YOU choose, not necessarily the key that the "record" was in. As for the song I couldn't remember? I don't script my tutorials, so I often think of things on the spur of the moment, and occasionally my mind goes blank. Must be getting old. Thanks for your comments.

@@KenMiddletonUkulele thanks Ken. I’m quite good at converting or is it transposing? I worked out 3 different keys for The City of New Orleans as neither Steve Goodman or Arlo Guthrie’s versions was right for my voice (settled with 2 in the end). I will look forward to your more detailed video.

Thanks Pauline. It is transposing.

Thanks for your time and excellent advice Ken i especially like the part on strumming patterns i prefer to go with the flow so to speak and play how I feel the tune sounds good. I have ordered some living water strings from your website today and i am looking forward to receiving them All the best John 👍
