I used Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee on all the trim in my entire house, as well as my upper kitchen cabinets. This color went well with all my wall colors and decor. Big fan of Benjamin Moore paint.

I had no idea what white to use for trim with my warm walls. I picked a bunch of samples to try and went with Polar Bear and it turned out really nice.

i used Swiss Coffee in flat for my ceiling and the same color in semi-gloss for my trim and doors. I paired this with Bone White from Glidden on the walls. I love the color combination!

I always use the same white for my wall, celling, trims but not the same finish 😅 I have color but my midnight wall have midnight trim, my light silver bathroom have the same white for trim and celling like all over house… and all doors is black. Probably I use the easy way, I love coherence in house 😆 I work hard and try more than 10 samples to find « the perfect white » 😅 but now I go easy with the rest ! Thank you for all your color wisdom! I’m moving into a new place soon-a Cape-style house-and have a LOT to think about with regard to color and style, so I’ve been devouring your content. What are your thoughts on an off-white wall paired with deeper trim, like a taupe or greige or earthy beige (unspecified tones, just generally speaking)? I saw this in the character Jane’s house in “It’s Complicated” and it looked great there, but it might’ve just worked in that style of home.

Love your videos! I'm moving into my new house and I'm so excited to put all of your advice into practice. Is there any chance you might make a video in the future on non-white trim colors? For example, I've been considering using Benjamin Moore's "Silhouette" as a trim color, or another shade of darker brown, grey, or black to pair with medium or dark brown or green walls. I've also seen a lot of cool examples of colorful trim with white walls out there, or trim that's just a shade or two lighter or darker than the wall color. I'd love to know your input on those kinds of pairings!

I prefer greyish or taupey whites to yellow whites.

I have polar bear in my kitchen and could see that looking nice with anew gray. Or if you want to stick with sherwin williams, pure white. Also since they are both fairly light colors just getting white with no colorant mixed in would work. Edit to add: pure white if you want something a bit warmer, extra white if you want something a bit cooler. But personally I’d just do the white with no colorant mixed in if you want something bright white. Definitely test them! I know I’m not James but I’m a paint freak as well so hopefully this helps

Hi, I love your videos! I am hoping you can help me. I have Sandy Lane trim (from 2008) and I am looking for an updated neutral paint color for my walls that won’t make my trim look more cream than it already is. I like ballet white but what are your thoughts? I can’t afford to paint my trim right now. I have very high ceilings but not a ton of big windows.

No rules Sandy! Some use the door like an accent wall and paint it something totally different. You can certainly paint it the same too. Up to you.

Help. I'm having nightmares about the color white. I'm indecisive. Your videos are fantastic and helpful, but I'm frozen. I've painted my new baseboards a Benjamin Moore "Mayonnaise", which is very close to Sherwin Williams White Dove. I'm painting my entire house white, but now I'm stuck on what white to paint the walls. I don't want it to look stark but I do want crisp. Gray or taupe looks horrible in my home so I'd like a warm undertone with my white, but I still want a dramatic white. Hope that makes sense. Please, what do you suggest? There's a lot of tall trees around my house which shades it somewhat. But in the summer I get plenty of light. Thank you.

Just to clarify Jazz, you're talking interiors right? Have you considered doing the whole place in Mayonnaise? I sometimes like to do same color but different sheens on walls and baseboards rather than deal with clashing whites.

I viewed more of your "white" videos today and 2022 colors. I think I just had too many choices and started to panic. At $106/gal I can't afford to make a mistake.
