Here the 5 worst car tools ever bought by me, include the aftermarket parts you shouldn't buy. This is my worst car tools and parts bought experience. These are tools/parts that are no good and you shouldn't buy them. One is even a widow-maker car tool.
See the tools I recommend (from Amazon):

Have you done a video showing the most affordable bidirectional scan tools on the market? I have a Toyota specific scan tool that does a lot, but the screen is a bit outdated/small, im thinking of spending the money and can not decide between Autel or XTool. Also, how about a good counterpart to the bad ones you listed today. I need a quality spring compression tool. Thanks for the great videos!

Definitely going to do a video on best scanners by budget range. Thanks for suggesting emphasis on bidirectional testing. Regarding Autel vs XTOOL, any indication of budget and what you must have in a scanner? That should help narrow the list down. BTW, if your Toyota scanner is that old, it may not support your 2024 Camry quite well. So yea, you may need something more recent. On quality coil spring compressors, was just reading Amazon reviews some days back and saw that the ABN I bought appears to also be a widow-maker at least on truck springs. That's to say, I don't yet have one to strongly recommend!

@DIYAutoworksNG I figure $300-$400 would be a good budget for the average DIYer investment? Personally, I like the D7, but I don't know if you can replace tpms sensors using it?

I initially figured TPMS would be a requirement for you knowing you got that lovely Toyota! If it's just for this Toyota, I believe you should be able to relearn OEM sensors without a TPMS tool. The only challenge would be if you want to install universal aftermarket sensors (which are cheaper). They'd need programming and the D7 won't do that. You'll need the IP819TP in the XTOOL lineup; that's if you want it in an all-in-one scanner. The alternative will be getting a cheap Toyota TPMS tool (I've never tried them though). If thinking Autel, then any of the scanners that end with 'TS' would be good. That said, for Autel, you may not have access to ECU configuration (turning off annoying beeps etc) if you go for 808 tools starting with 'MK'. Only those starting with MP, DS or MS support ECU coding and hence ECU configuration. The IP819TP supports ECU coding so there a bit of an advantage with the XTOOL. Finally, a bidirectional all-in-one TPMS scanner may be difficult to find at $300 - $400 except you wait for Black Friday deals... All the best! Do let me know whatever you go with eventually.

@@DIYAutoworksNG thanks! I have the Toyota specific Launch X431 elite scan tool, and it does have the TPMS special function capabilities, but I'm hopefully 6 or 7 years away from needing to change a sensor I guess I'm just going to have to wait until the time comes. I know Pacific Industrial makes the Toyota OEM sensors, so I'll most likely just use them. I really like that Autel and Xtool came out with their own affordable, clonable sensors, though. Ive found that after getting a zero mile new Toyota, it's weird to think that im most likely not going to have to worry about fixing my car for the next 5 or 6 years, lol. Did you ever send off a sample off to be tested to see if the oil dilution is occurring in your Honda, I think the 2017 Accords were the last good year? Either way, really appreciate all of your straightforward comparison videos, thanks again!

@donniev8181 Great to hear. Yea you're years away from any serious fixes😀, plus you have warranty for 5years or 60k? Not sure what Toyota does these days. Yet to send off a sample! Just keep forgetting while doing oil changes 🤦should be due in another 3800 miles. Need to set an alarm. Lol
