I really hate to contradict people who actually posted a video, but I feel like I am obliged to point it out when their advice is very dangerous! I for one, would never, ever advise anybody to free up their stuck piston rings this way! OP's so-called "advice" is to take your car on a highway, floor the gas pedal and hang on! I can think of several very good reasons to NEVER do this and no good reasons at all for flooring the gas pedal on a public highway. Aside from the obvious potential for fatal accidents such a driver creates for every living thing in his path, there are a hundred better and safer ways to free up your stuck rings! And even if you are doing this on an empty highway with no other cars around for miles, the possibility of a crash is not something to dismiss lightly. Even expert drivers can easily make a mistake that ends in a crash; but even the best driver ever born can still crash if the car's not in perfect condition and something in it - a suspension component, a motor mount, any one of several critical parts - chooses that moment to break and render the car uncontrollable. There are all sorts of chemicals that will unstick your piston rings gradually, "Yamaha ACC-RNGFR-PL-12 Yamalube Ring-Free Fuel Additive" is one, "Star Brite 095616 Star Tron®Ring Clean" is another, either one of these is a much better alternative to just flooring the gas pedal...

Archoil 6900 p max used with Shell V-power fuels enhances performance or economy. It also seems to project my DIG-S from developing excessive build-up on the inlet valves, no doubt helped by the Miller Cycle. Adding Extralube ZX1 to the fuel system 1ml per litre for 1000 miles, then 0.5 ml per litre for subsequent 1000 miles repeat treatment also enhances the cleanliness of pistons, cylinders and injectors. It helps prevent carbon from sticking to the metal after further combustion.

This car and many others with smart keys can only be programmed with the appropriate scan tools. The cheapest tool I know that can do this is the XTOOL D7. They may be cheaper ones, but that's the one I've used and can confirm. I also have a video on it. I also have some discount coupons for added discounts.

I did this on my 2006 Lancer but ended up spending too much on Liqui Moly, Engine oil and all. It was cheaper to remove the top cover and oil drain pan. Clean what you can by hand. We ended up overhauling the engine anyway and it looks super clean compared to 2023 cars now. Looks brand new. Aluminum color can be seen. No signs of oil sludge whatsoever. For my 2020 Hyundai Accent, I am no longer buying a Liqui Moly flush and just changing the oil more often now. We have a cheaper engine oil flush solution. After 1000km, I will just have the oil changed after pouring the cheap engine flush that isn't Liqui Moly. Usually after about 3 engine flushes, the oil always comes out clean.

Would this work on a MFI engine?
@DIYAutoworksNG3 күн бұрын
It will even be better in a MFI engine, since it will get the back of the intake valves. However the product Liqui Moly made for MFI is Jectron. Valve clean won't clean injectors. It'll just be valves and the combustion chamber.

Having done several of these cleaning videos including inspecting the catalytic converter afterwards, I'm yet to see evidence that the carbon is broken off in chunks. It's rather vapourized into fine dust and goes through the exhaust.

Autel used to recharge the internal battery through the OBD port long ago, but they changed the software to prevent that, as customers complained that the battery life became reduced (when the internal battery kept on recharging every time you plugged the scan tool into the car).
@DIYAutoworksNG3 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Never knew Autel had that before. That would be a valid concern especially for cars with already weak batteries. Pros and cons with every decision!

@DIYAutoworksNG3 күн бұрын
Depends on the manufacturer and extent of accident. Some manufacturers say you must replace their crash sensors, others don't, except of it's damaged. Honda falls in the later category. I changed mine anyway because I didn't know the extent of the accident, before I got the car and I wasn't sure if the crash sensors were physically damaged.

Do you know some parts of the US can be hotter than Nigeria? Even in the hot temperature of the middle East, 0w-20 is still recommended. These newer engine have tighter tolerances and thicker oil won't protect as much in those areas. It will only lead to more wear.

Question, anyone who knows... I bought a new PCV. I blew into one side horizontally (the way it is installed on my engine) and it had an air leak. Vertically, there was no air leak. I returned it and got another one, but the same issue? Maybe my lungs are not as strong as an engine! What do I do? Order another one? On my engine (toyota) it is a difficult R&R.
@DIYAutoworksNG4 күн бұрын
The blow test is now for old-style PCV valves. Some newer PCV valves will have air blow through them.

All that carbon build-up is due to a lack of maintenance, poor fuel quality, and liesurely driving. This is why I use higher octane gas from Tier 1 stations and always throttle on the highways - keeps the engine clean.

Hi. I was specifically referring to the 2005 Accord and upward for the 7th gen. The Acura may be different. Just go ahead and replace the exact part you took out. Should have the part number on it. For even more assurance, plug your VIN into hondapartsnow.com and search for the part. The part number of what you find is what you should use.
