10000+ rounds through my Makarov. Two failures to eject both from guys with huge hands I’ve never had any failures. It was an incredible gun back when it was $150. You’re right about it being outclassed by a million other guns at today’s prices.
@brandonsteinhauer528117 күн бұрын
Anyone buying a makarov (or any older surplus gun for that matter) then complaining that it is lacking compared to modern handguns 70 years later is completely missing the point of buying one. It's a piece of history to enjoy at the range.
@W1ldt1m17 күн бұрын
@@brandonsteinhauer5281I’ll freely admit that when I bought mine I bought it for the express purpose of concealed carry. At the time it was already a fifty year old design but,again, at the time the concealed carry movement was jut getting going, Clinton’s magazine capacity cap was in place, most of todays guns didn’t exist, and there were few bargain guns out there. At that time and for only $150 the Makarov was very competitive in the market of available medium to small frame semiautomatic pistols. At that $150 price tag, even today, it would not be a bad choice for those who had the keep the price under $250. But once you hit $300 it is eclipsed in capacity, weight, size, and power by many many guns. It is now obsolete.
@hoovey8615 күн бұрын
@@W1ldt1m I was in the same boat when I bought my PA-63 in 9x18. It was $140, I was 21 and all of my carry experience (military) was with a DA/SA gun, so it made sense. It has been replaced as my carry gun, but it remains my "shower" gun, and is the only one I've drawn in fear.
@TheGrebnaws15 күн бұрын
@@W1ldt1m I paid about $250 for a Baikal Mak about 10 years ago. Dead nuts reliable and super accurate but also a poor trigger, low capacity, and high recoil for the caliber. I have other pistols that haven't failed and are easier to shoot so the mak would be pretty far down my list for carry. Fine for the price at the time but ridiculously outclassed by so many others.
@BertNielson10 күн бұрын
I had an East German Mak purchased in the 90s. It was dirt cheap back then and was at the time the most pleasant gun to shoot that we tried. I think the reliable ones have been snatched up by collectors, leaving the ones that weren't as nice for the market.
@mth30317 күн бұрын
Your issue with the P09 Nocturne is screw length for the optic. The "right" hand screw is impinging on the extractor/extractor spring. It's bad installation and has nothing to do with "bad manufacturing". If you're using the holosun screws, take them out and swap them fir the CZ screws. There will be one that is slightly shorter, install that one on the extractor side, and I GUARANTEE your problems with the Nocturne will disappear.

So, the Concensus from other Gunsmiths is that the P09C's issue is due to screw length on the optics mount. Its extremely tight with the double/single action, and similar to older Glock optic milling, the screws can apply pressure to the chamber. I'm sure I screwed things up and explaining this, I am no gunsmith, there may genuinely be an issue with the pistol, but I heard in read from some reputable Smiths that filing down the screw or buying shorter screws will fix the Nocturne

I bought a TX-22 Compact to have a steel-target gun for practice. Holosun green dot and new Tandemkross victory trigger and spring. The results are okay at shorter ranges because the mechanical accuracy of this pistol is worse than 20 MOA. In a vise, you can observe the slide [barrel] lurch leftward when the trigger breaks. Yikes. It must also be kept very clean for the slide lock-back to work reliably. And don't drop your mags into the dirt... I'm in correspondence with Taurus to see if they'll attempt a remedy on this admittedly inexpensive pistol.

Always enjoy watching. It's a new year and new guns will keep coming at us. I don't know if others are like me in that I don't buy a new gun every month, or even every year. More specifically, I don't buy handguns every month but may buy one, during the year, but most likely will not. I DO buy long guns. I daydream of buying one a month, but I am lucky to get two in a year. For my first buy of 2025, I'm completing my SCAR series with an FDE 15P in 300bo and then waiting for the tax stamp while it plays pistol. Happy New Year to you and yours.

@HonestOutlawReviews The reason of the failures in the CZ nocturne is due to the optics screw going to far I to the slide, take of the optic and it should be fine and or shorter screws

It a unforgivable oversight that he hasn't corrected this. It was his screwup and he's blaming cz for it.

I bought a Taurus TH40, and, believe it or not, have not had one failure with it. I can't say that about other Taurus's that I own. I don't trust it enough to carry it EDC, but like I said, over 1000 rounds, and not one failure. Take that any way you want.
@Bryan-198018 күн бұрын
I don’t own any guns I don’t trust for edc. If I don’t think it’s good enough to carry, then I sell it immediately and grab something else to start testing.

I have a PT111 millennium, the series before the G2. I had 2 ftf in the first 100 rounds with PMC bronze ammo. I now have 750+ rounds through it with American Eagle, CCI blazer brass, and Freedom Munitions reman ammo. Not a single malfunction with any of those ammo types. Taurus can be hit or miss, but I've had good luck with mine.

At 3:35 u can clearly see the Nocturne malfunctioning without an optic.. The Nocturne is just like the Fuse, the initial release was a failure, however i believe CZ may have fixed the issues just like Sig fixed the issues with the fuse on the next batch
@Steve-ev6vx18 күн бұрын
The extractor may have already been damaged by the optic srew at that point.
@WettDoggTV17 күн бұрын
@Steve-ev6vx that's speculation.. And yall like the way that sounds so u are running with it.. If this was some bum Guntuber who doesn't know shit about guns i might believe it.. But u don't think HO is capable of figuring out if his extractor is damaged from an optic screw? I do..

I’ve shot about 500 rds thru my P09c. Not a single malfunction. I think Chris really needs to double check the screws on the optic and make sure it’s not binding on the extractor. Specifically the right screw. Chris really needs to give this gun a second chance.

I really appreciate your honest reveiws of firearms. It's been very helpful to me in making purchases over the years. Sorry to hear that particular Specialist is having issues. It might be worth noting when sharing your experience that you picked up a used gun. The last year that model was made was 2018. The Specialist was reintroduced with several modifications in 2020. I wonder how the previous owner used it and maintained it? It might be contributing to the issues you're experiencing.

@@spazmaticaa7989 The issue is known, his right optic mounting screw is too long and interferes with the extractor. Other youtubers have covered and demonstrated this.

I have 3 Makarovs and I don't think I've ever had a single malfunction. They're heavy with limited capacity, so I would never carry them, but they're cool. I have a couple of the Taurua G3s that have also been extremely reliable, but the $2-300 guns are definitely gonna be a crapshoot. It's always sad when a $1k plus gun sucks, and it sucks even worse when a manufacturer sends you a gun to try and it sucks.
@takumisato712616 күн бұрын
Thats funny because my 1978 Bulgarian Makarov has become my favorite carry piece and I have ALOT of handguns to choose from at home, it doesn't make any sense but it's my most comfortable gun to carry, maybe because of how rounded off everything is on the gun, also, mine has not had any malfunctions ever either
@jayvandenbos68117 күн бұрын
Happy New Year! I have a Makarov, and the DA trigger is pretty stout and the SA is very light. Never had reliability issues, but the difference between DA and SA was significant enough that I was pretty much guaranteed a double tap.
