I love that the Snail comes in GCEA and I liked hearing both versions of it. Snail vs Pono… hard decision!

Leave the pick guard removable. I would use it as a template to make my own. Maybe gloss black, carbon fibre or a dark tortoiseshell.

The Lanikai has worked out really well as an “Octave” Baritone that I needed for Uke jam. It’s a little bigger and boomier and the lower register seems more balanced then the other baritones I tried

Thanks for these 5... the two string options on the Snail - well, for me it sounds that the tuning you choose, with the DGBE , makes the Snail sound like it should - if this makes any sense I am looking forward to the Tenor 5 -

To my ear, the Pono outshone the rest with a much richer sound. Thanks for the demos!

A nice dark tortoiseshell pickguard would look so much better on the Flight. Just my opinion of course

I'm not disagreeing with you... The Concert version comes in Dark Blue and Wine Red with a white guard and that looks much better in my opinion too. The black one outsells the others by 20/1 though so we must be in the minority.

As to the Flight, I join others in recommending leaving the pick guard removable (or “gluable” later by the purchaser).

I bought the Snail SUB-M1 from you about 3 months ago and I absolutely love it! I upgraded the strings to the Baitone DGBE Lava series and man what a difference. It sounds absolutely beautiful. I play it every day. Thanks :)

I have 2 baritone ukuleles, a Cordoba 20BM, and a Pono ABD-SP spruce top. The Pono has a radiused fretboard. I use low tension fluorocarbon strings on the Pono, I prefer the feel of them to the high tension strings. The Cordoba has a custom set of strings for low G C E A tuning that are not high tension.

I personally wouldn't need the pickguard - looks "wannabe chique", meaning cheap-ish... happy to hear it is easy to get rid of... - thanks for the review!

You’ve read my mind. Thinking of branching into baritone and trying to figure out an inexpensive solution whilst I decide if I like it. I’ll be in touch soon! Oh and poor Ed Sheeran 🤪

Thanks for the advice, I’ve been trying to learn the guitar for a while, but can’t find an in person teacher. I have found a ukulele group that welcomes new players, so I’m thinking of getting a baritone ukulele as the chords are similar to the guitar. Now I just need to pick up a baritone ukulele that’s right for me.

From wales. Struggling with the dreaded guitar for decades off and on! Picking it up and putting it down buying selling acoustic and electric, giving away re buying, you get the picture! My two sons have been playing in lots of bands bass and lead for 20 yrs. So having guitars around the house payed off for them! I still up to a couple of years ago was struggling with guitar until I saw a baritone tutorial on youtube a game changer! Got myself a baritone, all over it in no time! For me it has to be a baritone, better sounding than the others! You won’t regret it. Didn’t know much about them before I bought mine. If I get down to the uke store this year, definitely come away with something.

Playing the baritone uke is much like playing a guitar, just without the low E and A strings. The chords are the same otherwise. The chord fingerings are the same shapes as the tenor uke, they just make a chord that's 5 half steps lower. Put a capo on the 5th fret of a baritone uke and you have a tenor with low G string.

Oooohh...poor Ed Sheeran!! 😮😂 As for the blue pickguard, I would prefer it in a non- permanent state to begin with and take some time to see if I could live with it. Knowing that it is not firmly attached may make it appealing to more people.....

Leave the Pick Guard removable. It looks out of place and really cheap. It's the main reason I won't buy it.
