Caipiroska Recipe: I've been making these (and Capirinhas, the Cachaça version of this cocktail) for over 10 years now, so I thought I would share some details that I find make a difference. Lime: When cutting your lime, try to remove the white strains the run inside the lime. This should reduce bitterness. When placing the lime, either on your shaker or glass, have the pulps facing up before mixing the sugar in. Also, muddle it "dry", with just lime and sugar, this helps ensure that the sugar will really mix in with the lime pulp. I don't shake it myself, but that's when you can then shake it if you like. I personally prefer building it in the glass. Anyhow, I know you have tons of experience, and I don't mean to imply otherwise, but I thought I would share these "tricks" with you anyway.
@samuelmumo5302 жыл бұрын
Newbie here on the cocktail making front. Just bought my first cocktail set but even prior I've always felt that the lime gets abit bitter for my liking when preparing directly to a glass. Will try removing the white strains

Once I've created a variation of the White Russian (idk if this version already exist under another name, but idc), I'll write you down what I've changed because my friends always love this method. I usually use these proportions : 1 part of chilled Espresso (italian coffee shaken with ice or kept in fridge) 2 parts of Vodka 1 part of Kahlúa (coffee liqueur) And then I add on the top (without mixing) some "milk cream" made by 2 parts of whipped cream and 1 part of milk. Another tip, I was making some Sex on the beach, but the Cranberry juice that my friend bought was quite bad. I replaced it with 1 part of Strawberry liqueur, 2 part of Blueberry juice and 1 part of lemon juice. It was (unexpectedly) really tasty.

The start of the first one sounds like an expresso Martini, although I was taught to do expresso straight from a machine, the milk/cream is an interesting add tho

@Steve The Bartender You, good sir, have just earned a new subscriber! Very nicely done video, and it's easy to follow along with what's being said. I do have a question, though... Have you ever considered, or would you consider in the future, possibly adding some little tidbits of history or backstory of the drinks you show? It's just a suggestion, and obviously you don't have to use this idea, but I think it could be really neat to learn about the cocktails' histories and maybe some of the less well-known alcohols, as well...
@StevetheBartender_5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nicholas! I usually add a few tidbits of info do keep it short and sweet.. I don't include extra info in the compilation videos (such as this one) as I think the video would then be too long...appreciate the feedback though and will make sure I expand a little more on the drinks background in the single recipe vids!

In Finland there was/is a quite local (but in the '90s well known version) of the white russian, called "Iloinen vesseli" ("Happy Laddie" - because the customer who always asked for it was happy and called "Laddie"). In the 90's there was also very popular cocoa powder brand called "Vesseli" (= Laddie) - which kind of gave more kick to the name and this drink was later called just "Laddie" (dropping the happy out of the name). Done in a coktail glass: - Filled with ice - 0,5 part Vodka - 0,5 part (dark) cocoa liquer (original: Crème De Cacao / De Kuyper) - 3 parts milk Stirred and served with a straw.

Darko Panic, you’re wrong. Harry, only if you’re pounding drinks and don’t want to throw up all the milk... but even better than either is a Colorado Bulldog. To make it, just add a splash of coke to a White Russian, try one, you will probably like it. Completely different mouth feel to the White Russian, a more diverse flavor and the coke breaks up the heaviness of the cream.

Darko Panic quite simple, because the drink you described is not how the books say to make a White Russian. And I’ve seen it in three different bar tending guides, I used to be a bartender. Also, try the Colorado Bulldog, you’ll probably enjoy it... if I’m having a mixed drink while out that is usually what I have, unless I’m eating Mexican food, for very obvious reasons a margarita is pretty much required. Drink up.

Caprioska is my favourite... I just don't like sugar with alcohol... Great video, you used both ounce and mils to describe qty which is super cool

Hello Steve. So glad to find a format set up this way. You do a fantastic job. Right now I'm trying to learn to mix simply to have fun at home with my family and friends. You do a great job of getting to the amounts and what to do with them to make a particular drink. That makes it easy for a person like me that wants to look up a drink name and see how it's made. It's fun to watch somebody mix stuff that really knows what their doing and that is certainly you. I'm enjoying all these. Thank you Sir.
