Hi Steve, recently decided that mixology and drink making is a definite thing I want to get into, do you have any tips for young people trying to get into this😊 any books etc, I'm from the UK so some of our ingredients differ and I'm not the richest of fellers so tend to go for cheaper brands😂 your vids are like my studying material, must say Ive loved all I've watched so far, thanks😊😊

@@rustyshackleford7479 don't know about “upper or lower 48” (referred to as the states), but in Golferville Resort areas ArnoldPalmer’s been a classic sweet Tea w/Lemon drink for decades. I'm pretty certain anyone could go to any golf resort worldwide and order an Arnold Palmer with or without your added spikes. Well done Steve. Nice choice of homemade Hibiscus Tea.

If you want more cocktails with tea, it's really popular here in England - syrups and infusions particularly. I've seen some places in London use little fruit teabags pinched on the rim with a tiny clothes peg so it infuses with the cocktail as you drink it. Gin and camomile tea is a great go-to!

Great combo of recipes. Your expression after tasting the coconut made my day. I do not know why, sometimes the coconut water tastes great once you crack the nut, and other times it taste kind of "soap-like"; At least in my oppinion and experience. Hey man, haha just here to let you know how to crack a coconut. In my culture we say crack it between the eyes. Basically, look for the 3 dots on the coconut, between 2 of the dots(the eyes) there should be a line running through them. That’s where you use the knife. Love watching your videos man.

Steve, Just one BIG wack in the middle will give you a cleaner cut if you can live with 2 equal halves. Also, coconut water from a fresh coconut shell should be the best drink one can think of (think about all the natural filters in producing this juice, from the roots of coconut tree to all the way to the shell). Grocery store coconut must be months old, so no wonder it didnt taste good when you tasted

You’ve made me appreciate gin and so many other spirits, in a whole new way. Why do I feel like vodka doesn’t add much complexity or flavor to a cocktail?

It doesn't... but that can be the beauty of it.. neutral flavour... it provides the booze whilst you can highlight clean flavours... the Cucumber Basil Gimlet is a perfect example... clean, fresh, herbaceous flavours..

One of my favorite things to do with coctails is taking vodka based drinks and replacing the vodka with gin or tequila just to see what happens. Works more often than you would think.
@mikerich323 жыл бұрын
Hahaha Steve, I guess you didn't know this, but coconut water comes from young coconuts (ones that have green husk on the outside) and coconut flesh comes from mature coconuts (the ones with brown husk). That also means the flesh of young coconuts isn't tasty, and the water of mature coconuts also isn't tasty.

Sometimes I wonder if vodka cocktails are better served with a different spirit. The Chi Chi seems like it would play better as the OG with rum (or even Chatreuse in the Pina Verde) and the Cucumber Vodka Gimlet seems like it would be elevated with gin in place of the vodka. However, vodka seems really at home in the Cocktail Culture. It also seems like vodka is at home in Boozy Arnold Palmer either. Nice to see some cocktails where vodka is (likely) the ideal spirit.

the boozy arnold palmer: ha, ha, ha-aaa (imagine jimmy carr's laugh here): I though t I was clever when I started using herbal teas with our Shabat cocktails (cause both me and my dad need to get off sugarry drinks, so I couldn't use syrups and liqueurs as much). as for the vodka gimlet - I hate basil anywhere but in pizza sauces. So I tried with mint instead, and them with sage - I loo-oove sage in just about anything, so I adopted it!! thanks for all these ideas of what to do with my vodka!! my youngest just turned 18 as well, and she is over the moon for getting included into the drinking circle 😻 after trying them all, I'm still most partial to the sage cucumber vodka gimlet.
