A marriage does not secure a relationship like this person claims. Too many times I have seen marriages that the women leaves after marrying a man for so many years. My own experiences as well. A man has too much to lose especially the men that are making 6 figures, have pensions, life insurance, a house. Union tradesmen here, trust me, we have alot to lose when it comes to marriage. This needs a lot more info. Is she out all the time with the girls? Is he afraid of marriage because of the divorce he has seen(parents , sibling, friends, etc.). Has he been married before? People jump into marriage way to soon and then separate. If the woman in this is not willing to talk with him about this then she is not ready for marriage. She finally lied to me and said she paid off her credit cards only to tell me she bought a season pass to Disney and planned to spend her weekends at Disney which is a 4 hour flight one way. Later, I found out she didn't pay off the credit cards. 18 months later she got married, bought a house, and now they have one car, both work 2 jobs, and they are about to lose the house. It is by the Grace of God that I didnt put a ring on my ex, otherwise I would be tethered to that abusive crazy woman, who didnt show that side until 7 years in. It was difficult pulling the trigger to get married. My boomer parents and their siblings and cousins DIVORCED and (men) played around for ever or didn't get married (women). They were all not supportive of marriage, didn't encourage it, didn't talk about how to get along in it, finances, nothing. They were worthless. I personally needed more time than others b/c i viewed it as a huge risk and new that more responsibility (children) was going to be hard. But I did and we've been married 22.5 years w/ 2 kids. The benefit is that I knew I could go through life with this wife. Too many rush in and then are shocked it doesn't work.

Being honest up front about what you are looking for in relationship to go is the best way to avoid being "in a relationship" for years. I know of one person who told his future wife that he was looking for a wife; that if she was interested in exploring whether they could be happy together, then he would be interested in a second date. Today there are just too many commitment-avoidant men and women out there. So, upfront with expectations; you will be happier in the long run.

This is extremely toxic advice. Why are a ring and a piece of paper the two things women MUST have to spend their lives with someone? A ring and a piece of paper won't keep someone from cheating or leaving. Most men don't care about your income, your job, and usually your looks and have no problem spending the rest of their lives with you knowing that stuff. Women have to have the marriage or you aren't "man enough for them".. Men don't want to risk being put in a terrible financial situation if she decides to leave and take everything. 2 people don't need to be married to love each other and spend the rest of their lives together. I've seen to many divorces and seen how they ruin people to ever want to sign anything. And for anyone saying get a prenup.. AGAIN, if theres a need for that, how's a ring and paper going to keep them together? It won't. A ring and the paper are just items turned into social symbols used for a woman to say, "See, i have a ring. I'm married.. I'm better than you in god and society's eyes because I'm doing the marriage thing." Social symbols that only complicate love.

if you want the legal paperwork and all of its protections, you need to do things the old fashioned way and hold out for marriage. living together, sleeping together, these are a recipe for a dead end. In some states, common law marriage takes over after a certain amount of time. you don't really need marriage. the older you are, the more benefits it is to a man to be married, but not a woman. (men live longer if they are married, women live longer if they are single.) however, the main reason people get married is for the legal protections that people get with that piece of paper - not because you need one to be together. In some societies, marriage is an institution of the church, not the government. in our society, it is an institution of the government

I think you should look upon your own life and others and see if their life is better or not. I married my first wife, had 3 kids, and she left me after 7 years. I remarried after 5 years. Lived with my second wife for 1yr.,married her, then divorced her for financial reasons. Because of the government. We lived together for 22 years till 2023. Then she decided she wanted to live on her own. We did everything together, family functions, and all. But because I am a caring person. I still help her out. So, if the woman wants to leave then she can and will. The issue is whether or not you approve of them being together. It's their life, not yours.

Both men and women should be dating for marriage. By dating, I do not mean having sex tryouts, like the world does. I mean getting to know each other, see if you are compatible, can you love one another and be friends for the long term? Can you partner up in life, share finances and responsibilities? Raise children? Discuss all these things and see if you can agree on the big things in life. Are you both Christians, following the Lord? If you are not both Christians, you should not marry as it will create a lot of issues. There are still men and women who are Christian and are dating for marriage. They may be hard to find. You won't find them at bars and worldly parties, you will find them at church and Christian events. If you have been dating someone for five years and you are ready, then why do you think they are not? They are waiting and looking for something else, they are stringing you along. Even if it is not consciously in their mind, that is what they are doing. It is time for you to move on from that person and find someone who wants to propose or wants to accept your proposal. Don't waste your life waiting for someone to mature or finally decide you are worthwhile only as a last-ditch option.

I don't know but it seems like he's already made his decision but is perfectly comfortable with how things are. She can only do one of 2 things, as you know, her clock is ticking, so she can force him to commit or choose to walk away. But maybe, just maybe, she is also perfectly comfortable with how things are. She needs something to complain about and her lack of a wedding band is easy pickins. As if it matters at all, it's not like there are any children ever coming to these people. There are consequences to defiling your Holy Spirit.
