@@yuuning I see fluff like cotton candy. If it has no base (more deep aspects to draw the readers into the characters) then it’s just bag cotton candy which is still good but not as warm and fuzzy type of fluffy

Yeah the tone shifting can definitely ruin just about any story. It's taken me about five years of writing to finally get to the point where I intuitively know when to allow breaks in the drama for some fun and vise versa. Still struggle sometimes though for a select few genres, but overall I can say I've gotten a lot better at it. It truly is a skill.
