One thing I forgot to call out in my use is LONG form content. Specifically sessions that are 30+ min, like podcasts and product tutorials. I often record 1 hour long sessions and edit those down to 20 minute videos, and the a6400 has always performed great in these cases (recording direct to SD cards) Also if I didn't specifically call out a feature and/or issue with the a6400, it's most likely because it wasn't relevant to my situation/experience. Thanks for watching!

Hi Tefty i'm here just to thank you for all those Destiny 1 videos that helped me walk through the hardest stuff with the easiest explanations, i still have fond memories of waiting for those videos and the difference they had on my gameplay. Today marks the 10th anniversary of Destiny and you're just a part of it as everyone else. Thank you for your service, guardian.

Do you know if the 6400 can handle heavier lenses still with it's lighter frame? I have a Tamron 35-150 that is 2.5 lbs and is pretty front heavy and I am worried that it will be too much for the 6400 to handle on a tripod.
@TeftyTeft2 ай бұрын
So I don't know for sure, but I'd imagine sony designed the mounts within certain limits for compatibility (weight ranges included). Typically any lens that can't support a mount comes with a tripod collar for that very reason. But to be clear, I don't know for sure. I've attached a heavier 100mm macro lens to the a6400 for video and had no issues with it.

Hey Tefty! Would you say the stabilization issue on this is too wobbly to record music cover videos and acoustic sessions? Is it fine as long as you don't do any quick motions?
@TeftyTeftАй бұрын
Stationary shots and slow pans/movements should be fine. Anything 'run and gun' is going to be problematic. And yeah a gimbal can fix the stabilization but the real problem is going to be the rolling shutter for quick camera movements.
@380productions211 күн бұрын
I say the same I have doensome videos and same with me as long as I don't have fast movement I won't get bending motion but still a good video camera and good video.

I recently bought the a6400 and thr biggest disappointment with the stock lens for recording vlogs has been the pulsing autofocus. The background and edges pulsate in and out and I haven't found any settings that can help except manual focus...mind you that I'm very much a novice. But I have watched numerous videos on how to set up the camera for optimum vlog footage. Perhaps someone has a suggestion? Thanks!

Just starting to dip my toe into this hobby - I have a line on one of these (used, less than 1,000 shots) with a Sony E 18-135mm lens for under $900. Worth it in 2024 for someone who's budget is under $1,000 and won't be doing too too much video?
@TeftyTeft2 ай бұрын
Yeah that's a decent deal. Both of them used would be about 900 together. It'd be a good all around starter kit. For photography the viewfinder is a bit rough on the a6400, but to start out you should be fine.

Can you drop a link for the gear youu use to have the camera as a topdown(downward) angle?
@TeftyTeft3 ай бұрын
Yup, it was a Panasonic S5 with kit lens (20-60mm) going HDMI out into the BlackMagic Assist recorder at 5.9k. I do this because of the extra resolution for punch ins and the ability to record longer than the 30 minute limit on the S5 mk1 in 4k mode. Also I can see the screen at eye level and not have to look up to see if things are in focus. S5 mk1 amzn.to/4grBnaK BlackMagic Assist amzn.to/3zf0ltt Personally I'd recommend an S5iiX if you're thinking about going that direction.

I'm new to Sony (coming from Nikon), but does the kit lens that comes with it 16-50mm, is it a true 16mm or is their a number (multiple factor) I have to use? i.e. 1x5 x 16 = true focal length?
@TeftyTeft2 ай бұрын
Sony has two varieties, APSC and Full frame. The a6400 is APSC, so you're correct in that it needs to be multiplied for the full frame equiv. So the kit lens is basically a 24-75 full frame lens. I think the actual multiplier is 1.53 to be precise.

4k 30p is choppy why i find 4k 60p much better or run and gun family filming or is there anything i can do to make it better
@TeftyTeft3 ай бұрын
I'd say that's probably because the shutter is left in auto mode so you're getting 1/100 and shorter shutter speeds. This makes each frame super sharp and crispy (also makes it easier to film in sunlight). If you're filming in 30 or 24, you need to lock the shutter at either 1/60 or 1/50 to get natural looking motion blur. In my video all the shutter speeds are at 1/50 and filming in 24p. Even the a6400 tests. If you try 30p again and lock your shutter to 1/60, you'll need your ISO and Aperture to be 'auto', and for daylight shots you MIGHT still need an ND filter to properly expose. Could be a deal breaker for run and gun. 60p is nice for real life though.

Good video. I own three Sony bodies, including full frame, but still use the a6400 quite a bit for video. I’m not crazy about its colour science for photography, but find its colours, dynamic range and audio when shooting video are terrific. It’s possible to get video from this camera that’s good enough for festivals. If curious: Greening Korea: From Hadong (15 minute version) kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6mZfGlqgb6JocU
