Our children's teachers, wildlife and mother nature. The natural way to stay calm comes from the heart, Cali is wise and strong because you have taught him to respect nature and mother earth. Your children are educated to stay calm and respect wildlife, because we are in their homes. I'm glad that Cali stayed calm, and respected the shark. Panic may have caused it to go another way. But truthfully sharks aren't as bad as the rap they get, it's only once in a great long while that people get bitten by sharks, and it's usually the humans fault. Way to go bucket family, for family surfing..... And Jes, sometimes the littlest steps produce the greatest smiles. Love you all, and keep up the great work!!!! They eat seals twice the size of him. He was lucky this time. I say this time because I Don’t know anyone who swim with sharks without some gear to protect them. There have been many people bit by sharks not sending any vibe as you say. You are in their territory. I live on the Gulf of Mexico and I lived on the Atlantic for over 30 years. Most of my adult life I have lived by and in the ocean swimming. For the most part they are on their mission either feeding or searching. But I don’t go in the water at early early morning or night. AWESOME LIFE!!! Beautiful family! It is so much more dangerous getting in a car today and driving the highways!

The chances of a shark attack are slim, and although they are more active at that time of day, the risk wasn’t that much higher. There are always sharks in the water, it’s always a risk, is every parent irresponsible for letting them swim in the ocean because sharks live there? This family is very well educated about marine life, they swim with sharks and whales on the regular, and love their children fiercely.

It only takes one time. Attacks are becoming more prevalent lately, so be extra careful, especially if you're near a birthing area/nursery (one of the most dangerous places to be). Larger sharks are coming closer to shore these days too. No joke. It's not worth the risk without nets etc.

Y’all have provided so many opportunities to your kids. Each one has taught them respect for the world around them. Each teaches love. The most important thing I see in every video is how much you love them and each other. When I first saw the story on IG I immediately noticed how Cali did not panic. He knew when he fell off to calmly get back on. And I saw the nervousness in Garrett when he heard from the neighbor. Keeping composure in the moment is what a parent (any adult really) should do. Yep, there are sharks in the ocean. For the haters, yes, they could keep their kid sitting on the couch 24/7 where there are no sharks, and the kids are safe, but what life is that? These kids are living the ultimate life. Risk vs. reward and this family is reaping the rewards we all wish we could have.

The child looked scared in that moment as he should. I just don’t think this is something to broadcast and at the same time minimize the danger by trying to make it no big deal. I don’t know what kind of shark it was and maybe it’s common there but I wouldn’t be laughing it off. Educate the people who view your channel. Seemed immature to me.

it is scary, but also it's not like he can control nature and it's kind of inevitable to meet scary animals if you spend a lot of time in nature. i don't think they were minimizing it at all, just proud of how calm their child stayed who seemed genuinely curious but also scared of what he saw.
