When I make meatloaf I add around a half cup of instant oats to give it some mass. In case anyone is interested, the recipe is: One pound Ground Chuck (80/20), 1/2 cup instant oats, 1/3 cup Ketchup, about 1 tablespoon Yellow Mustard, 2 large eggs, 1 medium onion (white or yellow)chopped up, 1 slice of white bread (torn into small pieces), a little salt and a little black pepper. Mix well and place in a loaf pan (use Pam to coat pan for easier cleanup) and Bake for 1 hour @ 350 degrees. It's a little fragile while hot out of the oven and super easy to cut the following day. The Wife loves it.

I am a candle person and have become a hobbiest candle maker through my prepping. For people that are looking to stockpile candles, I highly reccomend that a complete test burn be done with any candles you like before stocking up. The Dollar store candles you mentioned, while they do burn for the advertised time, the flame is tiny, producing little light or heat. They also burn dirty, in that during my test I had to clean the soot from the glass three times, which is a sign of a poorly engineered candle. Although I'm not thrilled with their performance, I do have a few on hand because as a last ditch source of light, even if they don't prooduce very much, they are way better than nothing....happy days!

I’m not a very good baker i love to cook but hate baking but my mentality has always been if times are lean around the holidays and it has happened but I figured if nothing else I’d have the things I need to make some holiday goodies and keep it more of a normal routine for the holidays!!!

2 of the 3 DT in my area have dropped prices on some things to $1.00! Spices including the Kosher and Sea salt are $ 1.00! Some canned foods are $1 too. The Libby pineapple and a number of canned things were $1, I think the Manwich was on that shelf to, so be on the lookout! Also the plastic lids on the sea salt and Kosher salts fit a regular mouth mason jar.

Next week I hit the dollar tree, I need the stock up on paper plates plastic silverware paper towels and some canned food, I get the Alfredo in the glass jars, I add a can of chicken and some frozen broccoli, makes a good meal, mice? The last time I seen a mouse was when Cutie pi brought one in in the middle of the night and dropped it on my chest as I was sleeping,I have 22 cats there isn't a mouse within a quarter-mile my neighbors don't have the rodent problem they used to have, come to think of it I haven't seen any squirrels lately, and it all started with a little feral ball of grey fur and razor blades that came out of nowhere climbed into my lap and adopted me, I called her George because I wanted to hold her, and squeeze her and love her and call her George, turns out George was a Maine Coon, these are her grandchildren and great grandchildren oh wait Junior is from her second litter, he was abandoned at 3 weeks when George disappeared and I bottle fed him and wiped his little bottom, not sure if he was going to make it,now he's the big bad tomcat of the woods,he denys it but I think he is the father of most of the kittens like 10 out of 15, nothing like coming home after having the stroke and having three of the females give you a litter of five each all on the same night,

The pasta is also a great buy, the ad for our local store, their pasta is on sale for $.88 each until the first of the year. I always pick up at least two pastas on my shopping day. I seen the oatmal only after I had been to the store and grabbed two canisters. I will get some next trip and stock up more. I eat a lot of oatmeal in the winter so it will nto be going to waste. I use it in my meatloaf as well. Good haul and I do wish they carried those wound kits here still.

We are finding our local DT's are having more and more shelving that isn't well stocked or just out of items. They are trying to use non food items like craft items and toys to put on the endcaps in the food section, obvious that there are a lot of things that are not available. Watch for after a holiday markdowns on things like plates, cups and plastic forks, often these are half price or less. We try to not buy as many prepared foods because often the ingredients have too much sugar, sodium and additives and you can make a larger recipe and a more wholesome meal with the basics without all of the additives. Little prepackaged items like the nail file sets might be good for trading or bartering. We watch for the gloves, hats and scarves to donate to a group that makes Christmas stockings for seniors who are alone or in nursing homes. Good time to stock up on things for holiday cooking or baking now, things like cinnamon, chocolate and coconut come from tropical areas overseas and might be more expensive soon to ship here if the cost of fuel keeps rising.

@@jaceyneal6167 The matches are cheaper at Walmart. They're like 97cents a box.

You had a very good haul. Your dollar tree has different things than mine here in San Diego. I have 3 of them in my area and they seem to carry the same merchandise.
