50 Cent Breaks Down Drake's Run At the Top
You can’t deny Drake’s success
It’s been 11 years strong and Drake is still on top. ⁣

How?⁣

Melody. ⁣

If you want widespread/commercial success, your songs have to be sign along-able. ⁣

They gotta be easy to remember. ⁣

5 year old kids have to know the hook. ⁣

I hate Spongebob, but that theme song is easy to remember. ⁣

Same with State Farm, that jingle is easy to remember. ⁣

Piano keys make great melodies that easy to remember. ⁣

Saxophones can be annoying, but they are addicting to the ear. ⁣

If you rap, you need melody for people to remember. ⁣

People don’t care about the words until they care about the production. ⁣

What do you think?⁣

Are melodies needed?⁣

Has that attributes to Drake’s run?⁣

I wanna know ⁣

He did not write love lockdown, say you will, street lights, bad news, coldest winter, see you in my nightmares, pinnicho story. Cudi didn’t produce on that album. Kanye produced on every song. 808s was inspired by his mother passing and him breaking up with his fiancé. Ye paved the way for Drake, Drake ran with Kanye’s blueprint. Ye and Wayne influenced each other but Kanye did produced 2 tracks on Carter 3. How did Ye borrow from everyone ? You’re just talking to talk at this point. Ye is the influencer and trendsetter

50 cent hating a bit here. The culture aint broken it's evolved to a point where authenticity matters. 50's story was believable at first because it was really real but when he was talking the street stuff after 3 albums and millions of dollars later it got old. Drake is relatable. Older artists like 50 who only had a small run think it's because something isn't working but really it's because they're not relatable. Drake is winning because he's consistently relatable and a dope all around artist.

@@Gahr20 Yup. I think he should've did the Drake method. He should've kept the mixtape kind of material on his albums but gave sneak peeks to him switching it up genre wise. When he changed sonically but kept the same type of aggressive material people didn't like that. Drake gives people the old Drake every album and then some new Drake. 50 doesn't know how to balance the old and new him.

Okay so Drake isn’t a Half Jewish, Industry Plant with Ghost Writers??? What’s really Authentic about that??? A Degrassi Actor who is somehow the King of Hip Hop???? Yea, that sounds real Authentic & grassroots... Obviously Drake is being used as a Trojan Horse in the “Hip Hop” Culture. Drake is cool, got some joints I like so there’s no hating, but how come if someone doesn’t ride the Bandwagon like everyone else, they’re “Hatin?” Evolution is one thing, outsiders infiltrating & controlling the Narrative of Hip Hop Culture is a whole other Animal. This is the Racist, Fraternal America you don’t win on that type of Level unless you’re selected for a more cynical reason. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Melody always been in hip hop, back in the days the old battle groups like the Cold Crush used to rap and sing. Another group was the Force MD's that was originally Doctor Roc and the Force MC's and who can forget Kurtis Blow," Day Dreaming" and "If I rule the world". It's been around for years way before Biz Mark, this is nothing new. Another one is The Real Roxanne , " Not Shante" the song is called ," Go Go " many rappers have done it, but it's more popular now !!!!!!

Drake doesn't even have a top 50 selling album at all. If you really look at the numbers Usher sold more than Drake, Eminem sold more than Drake, Whitney Houston, The Beatles, ACDC, The Back Street Boys, Adel, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin etc. If you are talking just an artist period I'd be here all day naming artists that have sold way more than Drake but NOBODY sold more than Michael Jackson. Drake is a rapper singer, pop artist. He is a hybrid. He’s right, drakes not a pure rapper. He’s not hating, have you ever heard em sing? Rakim sing? Nas sing? That’s why dudes like Dmx weren’t crazy about drake. Hes a singin dude man.

50 says the culture is broken , I don’t think so not to drakes degree of success I wouldn’t say the culture is anymore broken than it was back in 50cent days himself he came up as an artist under the diddy era of a broken culture too The culture isn’t broken not due to guys like drake It’s just “exhaustingly sad” to admit and say that every new young rapper that comes out like ( pop smoke , like king von , like nipsey hustle , like xxxtentacion , like ) None of these younger newer rappers had rap resumes and Grammys and VMA’s to solidify their potential rap future legacy in stone They all had potential to be the next 50cent or 2pac but they but the streets killed them and cut there careers too short , not the music industry… 50cent just had Eminem and doctor Dre to thank for helping keep him relevant but sure 50 sure pulled his own more than fair share of his own weight Drake just had lil Wayne and some other og’s telling him how to move help stay relevant and successful Kendrick just had topdog and baby keem Micheal Jackson just had his father and his successFul friends and paul McCarthy to help keep him successful and relavent Having a to die for stage presence and fandom crowd also It’s not about staying a solo genre rapper like Eminem or Kendrick It’s just more difficult like drake and Wayne It’s just more difficult for street street rappers because nowadays folks street opps don’t wait to catch you outside alone , they would run up in a crowded store and shoot you on camera nowadays infront of witnesses It’s more dangerous now than ever to be a gangster rapper or claim affiliation to the streets and doing dirty work in your songs I heard 50cent didn’t just survive because he was street smart And I mean if your moving in the streets “” you have gotta be and move street smart “ But also 50cent moved militant-like after getting shot 9 times 50cent started moving around more militant But that pnb-rock young rapper got shot in a restaurant in front of witnesses ( because he claimed the streets , wasn’t being streetsmart and wasn’t moving militant-like in someone else backyard especially if you have beef with somebody in that state or country, worse if your famous and dont keep a low-profile in someone’s else’s town or backyard or country)

The lecture you have about the melody is the same thing Michael Jackson said. You have to give them something to sing and hum to, no matter what language they speak around the world

I don’t know what you think a rapper is. But RAP means rhythm & poetry. Technically, We all rap. You’re free to use melodies. You guys just think Talking on a beat is RAP.

I don’t respect Drake as a lyrical rapper like I do Ice Cube, Kurupt, Eminem, Trech, etc. but I do respect him as a performer and as a businessman. I don’t understand some hip-hop fans but only want their rappers to just do bars and nothing else. They’ve got to eat. I mean the chances of anyone making it as a rapper becoming someone like Drake or Eminem or Kendrick Lamar or Jay Z are very rare. 90% of the dopest rappers will be 10 years after their biggest hit. People kill me the way he disrespects snooped on because they say he’s not a real crip because he hasn’t been in the streets since the early 90s. So you want that man to throw away everything he has worked for for his family, the nine figures net worth, just so he can prove to you, someone that has done nothing but criticize him, that he’s real? The smarter players to not listen to you and just keep your eyes on the money. The hip-hop fans are delirious. Everything that they claim they want a rapper to do would be the exact opposite they would do if they were on their fourth album and they know their biggest tits are behind them. Yeah you can go ahead and listen to the super lyrical fans if you want. Something else I’ve learned about those super lyrical things is that they aren’t the type that I was going to support music financially. If Slaughterhouse has so many fans how come neither album has one gold? Because their fans will go to KZbin and they’ll still be music for free but they’re not going to purchase the stream or order the hard copy to have it mailed to them.
