Jiren’s always been fun to play, and in season 3 I think he’s been pretty strong even though his biggest problems were never fully addressed, and they still haven’t been. What I love about him now is that they finally nailed the Jiren experience. In the show he was this unbreakable wall that everyone was scared of. I think he’s finally like that now. You have to be very careful in approaching him as your enemy. And he feels like his own character again where for the last couple months he’s been the worse UI Goku.

I feel the same way this patch helped him no doubt but people are vastly overreacting to the counter buff. My favorite change are his finally being safe on block. I cant count how many times I would get dped or lv3d before for just trying to end my blockstring safely using eyes due to the gap. All in all hes more complete now.

You should learn a combo Maximilian Dood performed and is almost a TOD without spark. Also you should put them to sleep more and control their jumps with the unblockable every other turn at neutral

I've been trying out your combos Jmcroft. For the parts of the combos with 6S 3sd, the 3S also registers as the 6S so you can just hold the 3 position while you S sd. Or you know 3S 3sd. You could even 3H 3S 3sd to save your launcher in combos.

About the corner combo in 2:59, you can do 5050~5100 damage if you follow 5M > 2M > 5S > 214M (basically the same untill here) > 2M > 5H > 5S > 6S > 3H (it actually reaches, even tough 6S pushes you back a fair bit) > jLL (you can super jump for safety, regular jump L barely reaches the opponent) > jS > SD (reverse Kamehameha in his case) > jL > jM > jL > double jump > jLL > jS > j2M. The damage fluctuation seems to happen if you can sneak an extra jL in the last part, during the double jump. This does not need any special timing (at least not against Kid Buu, my preferred punching bag), just a little practice because his routes are so different from everyone else's. If this combo needed any special timing I wouldn't be able to do it, because I suck at these stricter combos, but it is actually pretty easy. Copying and pasting without the commentary for clarity: 5M > 2M > 5S > 214M > 2M > 5H > 5S > 6S > 3H > jLL > jS > SD > jL > jM > jL > double jump > jLL > jS > j2M. EDIT: Also, I am pretty sure it can be further optimized. EDIT2: Slightly optimized combo, 5115 damage and 1,5 bar gain. 5M > 2M > 5S > 214M > 2M > 5H > 5S > 6S > 3H (the exact same until here) > *super jump* > jM > jL > jS > SD > jM > jL > double jump > jL > jL > jLL > jS > j2M. _I am not really sure_ how many stray jL I actually do during the double jump, since at this moment I simply start mashing L in fear of dropping the combo, but I tend to arrive at 5115 damage consistently
