For those that want to stain any wood board and still use it for food, a paste-like consistency of instant coffee and water, makes a safe stain (& keeps spiders away). I added instant coffee to paint for a room in my house and didn't see a spider in there for a dozen years. : ) A happy surprise.

GIRL! My gosh that desk was SO impressive! I love your hardware choice. The thing that thrills me even more is that it's MADE WELL... You will never in a million years find anything made for under a couple of thousand dollars that's made well at this point, and even then (as in the case with McGee & co) the quality will never match up to something made pre 1999. It's right around that time, when internet became so powerful & mass production went into full swing; that everything became crappy despite price tag. Nothing I love to see more than someone doing a better job at the McGee & Co aesthetic & not giving those people your money. For what they charge, you'd think they'd have the conscious to make quality product, but if you look at the reviews (not on their website obviously) there's nothing but disappointed customers who cannot believe what they received vs the price tag. I feel almost guilty saying such negative things about a company, but considering their popularity; the least one should expect is a quality build. Great video, totally inspiring!

On the laundry basket you may be able to help secure the wheels with zip ties. On the stained lid, instead of remaking the whole cover, find an acceptable fabric, either a match or a print or solid in colors that you like or maybe a ticking fabric, and cover over the stained part and put a matching strip on the opposite side to make it appear like it is intentional.

I don't know how long ago you posted this. So this information may be old to you, but the lamp you have re-purposed is a torchiere floor lamp with a mogul light socket. This size lamp is frequently the size seen in funeral homes. Light bulbs for them do exist. But it is just as easy to rewire them with a standard light socket.

I love thrifting & I've passed this hobby to my teen ! She used to feel self conscious but now when I point out I paid $2 for a brand name jeans which you'd pay $80 for in retail stores she's so proud ! She tells all her friends we saved $78 🤣 and they still had the original price tags so their brand new! Their green with envy! I've always rescued vintage furniture as their so sturdy & the wear & tear speaks of its history to me. Who knew they'd all come back in style! 💚

that very heavy lampstand the tall one, when you see those little holes around it that's where screws go in with flat bottom on it and that means that it had a glass dome type shade. you can usually find something like that at Home Depot or Lowe's but any antique shop and Goodwill and thrift shops you'll find the glass dome. The glass dome that goes on top can either be clear or frosted or semi-translucent just depends upon the design you're looking for. You do excellent work, well done.

You can try hydrogen peroxide and borax. Pour peroxide on the stain with a white cloth underneath and while it’s wet sprinkle with borax. I was able to get set in blood, black grease as in auto and what looked to be grass stains out of thrift store clothes. Several items took refreshing the peroxide and borax several times before washing. I have even washed items and if it didn’t come completely out I did it again. Never dry until it comes out

I've seen many of these videos to duplicate all the higher end brand merchandise but, I think yours happen to be the best . Most of the time, at least in my mind's eye, I think the other people doing the copycat versions make them look on the cheap side. For your laundry basket...I believe you could have spray painted the fabric on top (to hide the stain) and also, the frame probably would have looked very nice in black, Of course if it matched your decor. Thank you for the videos. BestWishes!

Enjoyed your video. The floor lamp… it would have had a glass, usually white bowl fixture that would fit into the open round at the top of the lamp. That is why there are holes in the sides of the metal around and outside of the old porcelain socket. That would have accommodated keeping the white bowl fixture secure and in place. The bowls can be V shaped or a round bowl style. One would sit this on top and then screw the bulb in. Then the light shade would have sat on top of the bowl fixture. There would not be a harp used for the lamp shade.

While this video is 4 months old, I will still add this suggestion for others who may still be reading the comments. To get stubborn stains out of washable fabrics, especially those you are ok with a lightened color, you can boil the item in lots of OxyClean, if you don’t want to use chlorine bleach. You’d be surprised at the whitening power of OxyClean and hot, hot water. Some organic stains can often be removed by soaking said item in Biz for several days. Biz is an enzymatic cleanser (as opposed to an hydrogen peroxide formula of OxyClean) and seems to work better on little mildew spots than OxyClean. And original blue Dawn dish detergent is excellent on removing grease based stains.

I would get a laundry stencil or vinyl letters. Stencil use tea or ink to stain a vintage design. Or initials (large center smaller on sides) and iron on. Or get some toilet fabric and glue or sew a square over it and stitch a fabric rope edge😊

Love your pumpkin. I thought it was sooo funny when you said that you took the tail from one of your children's stuffed animals. You then covered it with twine so they will never know what happened to the animal's tail. So, so funny. Thank you for the laugh. I love your creations. You are very talented.

I'm super jealous of the thrift store finds in your area!!! That #3 crock is one of my favorite things - all the sizes of the crocks. These are some amazing makeovers.

For the stain use lemon juice on it and expose it to the sun. You can also use baking soda on + water for at list 30'.

I wish I could hire you! Absolutely blown away by your talent and creativity. Have you ever painted white sconces? Mine are too transparent and the light bulb shows through so I painted with a brush and now they are a mess. I will try to remove the paint with acetone and spray paint with a rustoleum.

Great job on the vase. It’s very Pottery Barn. I just bought a dupe-ish vase from Amazon & it was still more than what you spent. I really need to look into Thrift Stores or Goodwill more often. Keep up the good work.

The floor lamp you bought is an incredible bargain. Those floor lamps weighed a ton and had white, glass, and often times dimpled conical shades. Such as:🔈The holes were for brass decorative screws that held the neck of the glass shade tightly. My grandparents had one just like it. Also, the wreath you made is so pretty. I think Joanna Gaines needs to be concerned because yours is much fuller and lovelier.

I came on here to say the same as gailcooper5646. I have a floor lamp like that bought at an estate sale with the original white glass cone shape shade held in place with brass screws. Wide part of cone opens to the top. Mine also came with a silk lamp shade fitted over the glass shade but not sure if that was original.

For the laundry basket I would use a natural timber lid. That would make it look more solid and high end I think.
