That video clip has been stretched vertically, you can tell by the guys on the skis, also, anybody who knows Mavs knows its not such a vertical wave, it has a very distinct "flatness" and squareness to the barrel. People are forever stretching or tilting Mavs pics and footage, just show it as it is please.

@@camronbay1 Yes, very large great whites exist in large numbers in the area and are frequently spotted. The second largest breeding ground for great whites is just a few miles to the north, and there is a very large permanent population of whites around the Farallon Islands, just a few miles away. What drives surfers crazy in the Macs area is that tour boats from Half Moon Bay, directly nearby, drop blood and body parts into the water so tourists can watch great whites feed. Florida overall has more shark species and attack, though.

Imagine your cruising along, enjoying a party on your 364 ft yacht when suddenly someone points out a growing anomaly across the horizon. The black wall of is a rare giant of the deep, a "freak wave" that grows exponentially before you can even make a decision on what to do! On the bridge the captain screams "hard alee!" As helmsman frantically spins the wheel toward the black monster. Another order barked and the first officer kicks in the starboard bow thruster to assist in turning the giant pleasure craft into the deadly monster. More orders are heard thru out the craft and over the 1-MC system n+111the yacht bellows out exhaust, the screws cavitating as the 364 ft luxury ship desperately attempts to turn into the curling, breaking, freak wave. The luxurious "Heavenly" just made the 45⁰ turn and begins to gain speed so as to hit the wave head on while maintaining a controlling speed. But above the ships machinery, the breaking wave begins to drown out all other sound. It's growing height blocks out the light as everyone aboard runs for cover. The collision alarm sounds as a muffled voice orders everyone to "brace for impact". Screaming is heard. Every soul aboard valently follows the captains orders, grabbing any sturdy interior railing, and fixtures, or bolted down furniture. Then the breaking wave, curling and ripping, is upon them. The bow is violently cast skyward as thousands of tons of sea water pounds down from above. The "Heavenly" groans like a dying whale, as it's forced end over end into the boiling aftermath of the largest wave ever picked up on the Coast Guards phased array radar that continuously scans that area of the sea off the Miami coast. Drug runners and tourist mishaps are all they normally see, but the fast moving line, North to South was impossible to miss. Cool 😎🎉should I continue or shut this story down 😅🎉

Nazare....especially with the rocks below the lighthouse and consistently 60+ foot waves. Rodrigo Koxa's 80 foot waved that he successfully surfed is a monster. Seems like Maverick's has had more injuries, though. Probably because of the proximity of the people watching while Nazare hascthe cliffs to watch from. Maverick's has also been a guant wave hotspot for longer. Garret McNamara really helped put Nazare on the map 10-15 years ago.

@@trylogic4084 try a little perspective. A 360 lb, 6 ft tall bodybuilder is going to mow down a 6 ft 10, 190 lb basketball player all day. Sure the basketball player maybe taller but in no way shape or form is he actually bigger. The bodybuilder is without a doubt much larger and stronger. Now that's facts

That's not facts at all clearly you don't know logic that body builder can easily get beat that was a poor example.

Went to Oahu’s North Shore with Hawaiian friends 35 years ago. Waves we're only 20 feet. Still scary. One of our group decided to body surf. Saw a wave pick her up and slam her down into the sand head-first! The sand there is loose like birdseed, so she was buried upside down to her waist. I thought she was a goner, broken neck at the very least. We got her upright as carefully as possible. The worst thing that happened was her mouth, ears, and possibly other orifices were full of that gravelly sand.
